Reception on 15w of some transponders

I'm in europe with a big dish and on my vu box I get 11611H 4054 3/4 S2 8PSK (The FN channel) with good signal strength (~80%).

Using the same channel parameters, dish, cable and lnb on my et8000 box I get NO signal. I've tried using the second tuner too.

Strangely, most other transponders on this satellite are fine on the ET box. I

Anyone else got issues with this transponder?

It is the Quality of the signal that is the important parameter, what is that figure?
If the tuner is less sensitive on the ET box then maybe that is where your problem lies,
I can not get this Sat myself so unable to check, winds have played havoc with my setup, and need to wait for better weather to sort it out

Re: Reception on 15w of some transponders

      Thanks for your response.

SNR and AGC are both zero on this transponder on my ET box (Whereas SNR 88%, AGC 69% on VU). On other transponders on the same sat the AGC and SNR are roughly equivalent to those on the VU box. I do not believe the ET is less sensitive than that of the VU.

I've now also found two other transponders that are ZERO signal on the same sat 15W.
      Zagros 10997V 2894 3/4 (SNR 93%, AGC 74% on VU)
      and
      Kirkuk 11033V 2130 3/4 (SNR 93%, AGC 69% on VU)

I'm using a simple A/B switch to switch the LNB feed to either box. Do you think this could cause the loss of signal at specific frequencies?

I would say for a true test remove the A/B switch and use the cable directly into the Xtrend ET8000 as this way you rule out any 3rd party problems

Digicon beat me to it, I was about to suggest the same action.
Any Dect phones or similar close to the Stb could also cause this, some Stb's react more than others.

OK. I've plugged the LNB feed directly from the dish into ET and still ZERO signal on those three transponders. Other trnsponders on the same sat have good strong signals (> 80%).

There are no DECT phones in the house nor nearby. The ET and VU boxes are adjacent to each other on the same shelf so I would have thought any external interferance would affect both equally?

Do you mean no picture or no signal?

I just tested these myself this morning i get everything except Zagros on 10997V 2894 3/4 seems very strange as i had this before at a lowish signal say around 70% the others come in at around 85%

Update: Lyngsat are reporting a change to the Zagros transponder from the 5th of this month no idea what though

It was the change of SR to 2894 (from something like 5500 IIRC). Do you have the new SR? Zagros still working here this morning on my VU. SNR 93% AGC74%.

I swopped the ET box for my old Amiko Alien 2 and all three channels worked fine. It must be problem with the ET tuner at these specific frequencies on this sat. It seems to work fine on all other sat/frequencies that I've tested.

Picoman are you sure the decoder is able to tune low SR ?

That may be the problem. I found a few channels on another sat that the ET tuner did not pick up at all and yet the VU did with no issue. I'll check what the SR are on those channels.

Have you try to add chanell in your setting with dreambox edit, receive setting from Vu and send to Et?

Yes, I'm using exactly the same channel settings from dreamboxedit on both boxes.

its probably the same the other way round, (higher) s/r
