    UK new law

It has been announced today that the government can demand all information of anyone who accesses anything that they call illegal, by any digital means.

Even if it's true, no really damage.

For cs there's no change of "status".

I guess "that the government can demand" is more like "that the government would like to demand IF they could"

                hi radtom

I completely agree - hmmm, don't they need to monitor everything to see what's illegal (just a thought)?

Anyone an idea if this is already so in other countries?

btw: not only cs, also streaming and downloading of eg music, movies, software, ...

I think you are not grasping the severity of this law, when it says any digital means, that means your phone conversations as well as all the data that you are using and what ever you are down loading, before they had to get permission from a court to do anything like this, now they can do it when ever they want, this is the next step after they blocked visiting certain web sites you will all have found that you get a pop up window that says this site is banned, unless you have a work around

Is this not linked to the prevention of terrorism?

Whatever it is linked to it means that if they want to nail you , they will find what you had for breakfast 5 years ago , what you do and where you are at any given moment .

It's all connected now , mobiles , internet , credit cards ... complete control of the individual .

                        Perhaps (only) the official reason...

                          C'mon,

                          are you serious ?

If you've got a Smart Phone, they (let's hope they are our guys) know what you had for breakfast and probably for the past 6 months already.

I rest as safe as poss in my bed, not worrying about my visited websites.

I'm sure "they" "have bigger fish to fry"

                          Don't worry, your too late.

                          Cheers CSB

Do they not have this power now I was under the impression that phone and internet uses was stored for a certain time as common practices? ISP and mobile phone Company’s hand them over when asked and also record all communication when asked.
