How to run manual FSCK ?

    Hello guys,
I have a little problem with a hard drive who need a manual FSCK.
Yesterday i erase a 8GB video file and since then i cannot more access the disk from the terminal itself.

On the network, my pc can read all the content of the disk mountend on the Enigma2 ET9*** terminal but when i start the disk on the Terminal it says that there's no playable stuff.

I have try to FDSIK on my PC , but my USB Ports do not deliver enogh power to the external hard disk So i can't do anything at all.

So , i wonder, the terminal says do a FSCK manualy , but how to do so from the terminal itself ?
Or can i do a FDSIK on the network ? but how ? ( using windows vista )

    Thanks

First of all you have lo list all disks attached to your system:
    Code:
    fdisk -l
Then, assuming your disk is "/dev/sdb1", just type
    Code:
    fsck /dev/sdb1
    That's all mate.

Left clk on the windows icon bottom left looks like a map of the world with a widows flag on it, then right clk on my computer when the side bar comes down clk manage, then a box will pop up clk disc management, you then should be able to see if your disc is showing there if it is clk once to highlight then on the top right you should find more options to help you

        I will repeat :
my PC USB Ports do not deliver enogh power to the external hard disk !
So i can't touch it when it is attached to my pc, only the STB give him enogh power, thats why i only see the contents of the disk thru the network.

The solutions you give are if i were using the hard disk directly attached to the PC... but can't be. Unless i find one of these USB cables with 2 males and 1 USB for give enogh power.

I guess there's no solution for lauch a FSCK from the STB itself , isn't ?

          What about an active usb-hub?
It will give you the power from external side.

So,these commands are for run from the STB? But how do i imput these line of commands

Or do i need a Linux distro on my PC and then it can manage disks on the network ?
If so, is there a distro i should use who fit this need ?

              Thanks.

Well, i solve it, a neighbourg give me a cable with 2 usb male for give enogh power to the disk, format it in NTFS from my PC , then put it back to the STB, who did format it in EXT3 ...
I did try 3 linux distros... probably the wrongs cause no management of disks was possible.

I don't think that can be true you cannot connect a hdd drive from a sat box or any other device that has been removed from the unit, ie the hdd is either pata or sata, and you cannot connect usb cable, to a hdd without a interface.
And if you drive is 3.5" it will need a separate power supply to power it up.
