    Arabsat 5A launch scrubbed

    Arabsat 5A launch scrubbed

It is a nail-biting time for Arabsat officials at the Arianespace rocket launch site in Kourou, French Guiana. Wednesday night’s planned launch has been delayed for technical reasons.

The official note, late on Wednesday night, from Arianespace said: “During final count-down operations for Flight 195, an anomaly occurred in a launcher subsystem. As a result, Arianespace has begun investigations to identify the cause of this anomaly.

The launch vehicle and its satellites have been placed in stand-by mode and maintained in fully safe conditions. A new launch date will be announced as soon as possible.”

Flight 195 has a pair of passengers on board in the shape of the much-needed Arabsat 5A craft which weighs in at some 4839 kgs, and the smaller COMS satellite (for the Korean Aerospace & Research Inst) at 2461 kgs.
