I think you can't renew it after the warranty has expired. In my country, there is an opportunity to buy extra months of warranty for a product but you have to do it before the original warranty expires. Try to contact the store where you bought it, I'm sure they will help you.

indeed, sometimes possible, but mostly extra warranty need to be paid directly when you bought something.

further I remember some discussions (here in Belgium, but I believe it was due to an European law or court decision) 2 years of complete warranty must be given. Anyone knows more and/or can confirm?

Never heard o a 2 year warranty with the EU, It seems a bit long to give on a electrical product for a manufacturer,
I think you will have no trouble with your product as they are very reliable.
In the UK you can take out insurance on electrical products when manufacturers warranty has finished.
So it may be so in your country.

I think that there is a misunderstanding...

Maybe he just wants to renew his subscription and not the warranty.
A new F5 receiver is coming with a 12 months subscription and obviously it is expired.

That's why he searches for a suitable place to make a new one.

In germany we have automaticly 2 years for electrical products.
But you have the warranty from the seller, not the manufacturer.

But why take out a warranty the price of new box is £40-£50 usually the price of a
extended warranty when you first buy a product. Better to get insurance policy on your
home which includes electrical goods like fandm said, I never bought extended warranty
and think it is just puts up the price of whatever you buy.

In germany we have automaticly 2 years for electrical products.
But you have the warranty from the seller, not the manufacturer.

In UK as standard you have 1 year warranty, in most other EU contries it's 2 years. But you may be able to figth them back:

The EU directive in question is 1999/44/EC. The full wording is contained here (open the word documtent and scroll to page 7) but the important bit is this: 'A two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU. In some countries, this may be more, and some manufacturers also choose to offer a longer warranty period.'

As with UK law, a seller is not bound by the guarantee 'if the (fault) has its origin in materials supplied by the consumer'. But the EU rule does not require the buyer to show the fault is inherent in the product and not down to their actions.

The EU rule also says buyers need to report a problem within two months of discovering it if they want to be covered under the rule.

I think kalpikpos is right in saying he means subscription not warranty, but it would be good if he replied and either confirmed or denied that.
