Astra 2g 28.2 east delayed

It looks like the launch of the final piece of the jigsaw for 28.2 east Astra 2g due for launch in May will be delayed until September.

In the meantime Astra 2c has arrived at 28.2 east but nobody knows why yet.

I will update when I learn more.

Satellite operator SES said that the upcoming launch of its giant Astra 2G satellite had slipped somewhat. It had been expected to launch in June. The eyes of the industry have been on the plan because the satellite had been rumoured to be the subject of USA sanctions against Russia following on from the Ukrainian political upheaval.

SES’s CEO Karim Michael Sabbagh stated that the satellite – built by Airbus’s Astrium subsidiary, but with many US-manufactured components – was not affected by the US sanctions. Sabbagh added that launch contractor, International Launch Services, held all the required paperwork to proceed with a launch.

However, the launch date will slip, from June to a date between July and September. The cause was not international relations but down to a queue of Russian and commercial launches.

Does anyone knows expected footprint of 2G.
Can we hope it would be available in southeast EU with some of the premium channels the least!?

It is suspected that it will be similar to 2f & 2e so if you can get the channels on 2e European beam you should be Ok.

Yeah I can but it's some 40% with gibertini 105 alu.
Every day more and more I realize that Gibertini 150 alu is getting closer and closer to my roof... Daamn!!!

Astra 2G will be with better coverage than 2F and 2E.

As you can see in the photo it will cover Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The Spot beam on this looks very tight, I would imagine that most of the channels people want to watch will be on this beam rather than the wide beam. ****** Astra 2g footprint.

This is the Footprint that the UK channels will go onto and not the European wide beam as suggested on 2G

Astra 2G will be with better coverage than 2F and 2E.
