    dvb2sx - h.265

    The new satellite-transmission standard dvb2sx - h.265...

    from german news (in short):

    - more efficiency (20 -25%)
    - not compatible(!) to dvb-s2
    - new hardware necessary (!)
    - APSK-64 modulation

Broadcasters are always looking for new and advanced ways to save money by making their systems more secure and efficient, I think it will be some years down the road before these new standards will come into effect as like most of these things there needs to be an audience out there capable of receiving them and also channels capable of broadcasting them.

I agree with Mobley3, that maybe will see the new standards after some years, but not now.
The time sync of changing standards it's very bad because of the financial crisis.
The cost of changing to a new hardware is very high and for me the whole project is very risky for the broadcasters.

          More infos in english here:

          _en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding

          _en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-S2X]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-S2X

The higher modulation schemes (64/128/256APSK) and the smaller roll-off factors definitly mean new hardware to receive the signals.

So it will take years untill it starts (my personal opinion).

I think that new standard has nothing with security. It looks like a new transmission standard to save bandwith and money. But it will not work same way with us. we will have to buy new hardware.

All these things go hand in hand, by making their systems more secure it make it more difficult for hacking, and, consequently sharing, this in turn saves money for the broadcasters as it forces people to subscribe to their programs. Unfortunately it also requires new equipment to be able to watch.
