hey guys got my solo2 today after my duo went dead
thats explained here(h**p://www.sl-forums.com/forum/satellite-discussion-english/52480-thunder-and-lighting-vu-duo.html)

anyways got the solo with blackhole but when watching tv no matter what the channel free or pay every 20 seconds or less the audio would cut out but the picture would play on. i suppose the best way to describe it is when ur watching jeremy kyle or something like that and they stop the audio when they use bad language.

i thought it may have been the blackhole image and since i am not use to it i said i'll change the image to vix(which was easier said than done) as i would be able to trouble shoot with with it easier as i am use to vix. but i still have the same problem. after installing vix i began fiddling around with the video and audio setting. but with no luck.

btw i tried the bbc's and other free channels it seems to be the same no matter what the channel.
its driving me nuts

snr is 99% and agc is 82%

i will play a video on it and see if i have the same problem


anyone know what could be the problem??

On a practical level, as I presume it is not too easy to send it back to China because of costs, maybe open it to see if there is any loose connection / circuit board, causing the problem. some equipment does not journey well and you may be lucky.

i get the same problem with playing back a vid.

On a practical level, as I presume it is not too easy to send it back to China because of costs, maybe open it to see if there is any loose connection / circuit board, causing the problem. some equipment does not journey well and you may be lucky.

I suggest you first try with another hdmi cable (read before they can cause problems) - if the box still has a scart, also give this a try.

Can you try if it's the same with another audio out (like stereo white/red or optical digital) to a home cinema or so?

the hdmi cable i have that is connected to the telly is 25ft long since the sat box and tv are 20 foot from each other. and i had to order that specially because no shop in my area had ones long enuff. so i can't try with another hdmi unless i order one and which will take a while to come. don't have a scart cable either

i don't have a home cinema but is there another way i can try?

i will see if i can jerry rig something. hopefully i won't get killed

Just to test: can't you put your tv and receiver closer and try with a short hdmi cable (1m or so)? longer utp cables (until about 100m) are no problem - coax cables can cause a problem when they're too long.
If you have normal boxes, normal audio cable should work also (if your box has a stereo output of course).

no i can't i'd be here all day trying to explain my set up but basicly all the cables run thru ceiling and the box and tv are both mounted to the wall on either side of the room.

i managed to jerry rid something with a different hdmi cable but could not test the sat tuners as the coax cables arent long enough but played back a video file with no audio problem. so i guess its time to order a new hdmi cable.

im looking forward to running the cable thru attic.. at least its not the box

I'm very sorry to hear that your new box has audio problem

It seems that the problem is causing by the hdmi cable because is too long.
As you said, the box is ok because you can play video from the box without problem when you use other cable.

Did you try to change some settings in the audio menu?
Maybe there is something that can solve your problem.

Btw, why you use such a long hdmi cable?
It's better to use more meters on sat cable than more meters on hdmi cable.

basically because i want the box over in that corner because i have no were to mount it where the telly is. i was hoping to mount it behind the telly when i frist got it and use hdmi-cec but the tv remote does not have the recordings button on it so i have no way to access my recordings if i use that set up.

its def the hdmi which is strange because i never had a problem with it when i had my duo. when my duo fried it must of damaged the cable. very happy with the box so far very stable. able to use tsmedia plugin without it crashing unlike my duo.

i messed about with the audio settings with no luck just ran a coax cable closer to the box just for tonight and the box has no audio issues now from the satellite signal. i will buy a new hdmi tomorrow hopefully that will sort the problem.

the only thing i don't like is either the remote or the box has bad ir reception as sometimes i have to press the buttons twice(buttons very noisy also) and point it directly at the box to get it to change. with my duo i could point it anywhere in the room and the box would pick it up. for some reason the duo remote will not work with the solo2.. so don't know whats the problem. will get new batts tomorrow hopefully that will fix the problem.

btw. i remember u saying for me to try blackhole for a while. i found it impossible to use a lot of things on it that i would never need and found it not very user. just trying to start cccam was impossible. it also crashed 3 times while in the hour i had it on the box. once from trying to install cccam can't remember the other reasons but vix hasn't crash once.

FIXED.. it was the video settings i changed it to 1080i and haven't had a audio issue yet. strange no problem with the other hdmi cable at 1080p and thats only a generic one. it makes no sense since i tried that at load of times earlier and it had no effect.

I have the genuine solo2 and never had problems with the remote control so far.
Maybe this is a clone's disadvantage but you have to try to change batteries and see if works better.

Somewhere I read for an issue with remote control control with a plasma tv.
Do you have plasma tv or other device with wifi or a cordless phone near the box?
If yes change the position of the receiver and test it again.

Na i have a Samsung full had smart led TV. And there is no device near the solo2. I think my duo remote was noisy when I first got it to just needed to be broken in. I noticed in setting on Vix i can change what frequency the solo2 remote uses and anyone know if my duo remote will work and what frequency?

i managed to get the duo remote to work by changing the remote code in settings to 0001 the solo remote does not work.. i tried changing the solo2 remote to use 0001 using this guide (h**p://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?25918-Remote-stopped-working-on-VU-Duo-and-TM-2T) but with no luck.

@25' for a HDMI cable you are pretty much well close to the 10m limit at which HDMI can have problems unless you spend a few £££ on a decent 10m branded one the cheap ones will just not work.

Another solution would be to run HDMI over Cat5e with extenders as this does not have the cut off point that a standard cable has. the adaptors cost around £50-£60 then factor in a run of 25' of cat5e

A decent Branded HDMI cable say Ixos,Synergy,QED etc.. will cost around £150 to £200

Oh! yes there is if i installed a 10m or even a 5m there is no way i would buy some poundland shite your just asking for trouble any within 1-4m range then yes any old cheap cable will do but long runs require a decent cable
