    OE 1.6 vs OE 2

    What is the difference between OE 1.6 and OE 2?
    How do I know which should be used?
    What does OE stand for?
    Thanks

      Re: OE 1.6 vs OE 2

      I cant give a definitive answer but most new plugins are now made for OE 2.0 some enthusiasts are decompiling them for 1.6 but I don't think they will do this forever.

      1.6 has been superseded upgrade and enjoy, it is much better,

        Re: OE 1.6 vs OE 2

        Hello

        OE 1.6 ---> /usr/lib/python2.6
        OE 2.0 ---> /usr/lib/python2.7

        OE1.6 is the old format , OE2.0 is the latest format.
        As always happens, the new in the better.
        You can use both of them if you have a genuine dreambox.
        If you have a clone, all depends on the sim card you have.
        Some cards can run OE 2.0 without any problem.
        Find the version of your card and make a little search about it.

          Re: OE 1.6 vs OE 2

          Thanks
          I have sim 2.10. I updated to Openpli 4 and tested a plugin for oe 1.6, but it didn't install properly. For oe 2 it was installed properly.
          So I guess it can run oe 2 as well.

          But what does OE stand for?

            OE stands for Open embedded think of it like an operating system 1.6 is the old one, 2.0 is the new. And like for all old operating systems support dies out.

            Hope this answers your question

              oe 1.6 is for clone boxes and oe 2.0 is for original images for original boxes

                No mate, I disagree with you

                Both oe 1.6 and oe 2.0 images are working with clones.

                The difference is on the sim card that they have.

                If you have a sim 2.1 or a ferrari sim, propably you can run only oe 1.6 because these cards are able to load only these images.

                On the other hand, there cards as estar sim and a8p sim that can run without any problem every oe 2.0 image.
                These cards cam make the clone able to be flashed with any original image.
