Personally I find them very useful, on many an occasion I have switched on to find a program I am interested in has started, I can then watch the full program by arranging my time accordingly.

But on the bbc u have iplayer which is on every format going now and pause and rewind on my youview box. But if you have none of them I suppose it would be useful. May be 2 years ago, I just think the bbc are a bit late with this one

You can not get BBC IPlayer in Ireland unless you use alternate means to do so.
and I then can only watch on the Computer.

I never even thought about that. Ireland is so near to me but entertainment wise it is so far.

I wonder if you put dns settings in your router would you be able to get iplayer etc on a sky box

Possibly, but as I do not have one I can not check, I can get most of the channels I want FTA.

Me too Mobly , people tend to forget that there are stilll millions viewers who do not have Ipads ,Pc's , HD recorers etc and are not computer literate, especially lots of pensioners like myself. So any easy way of viewing missed TV proggs is always an added bonus.

Just shows when you look at things from your own perspective and dont consider others how wrong you can. But maxmol you are on a pc.

But on the other hand I just bought a second hand snooker table off peloved had a bit off a chat with the lady over there messaging system. When I got there she was 98 years old with a broken arm
So your never to late to learn even with one arm.

                    Best wishes

Excellent news, iplayer is very good but not if you want to watch a program on the same day as the one you have missed, admittedly, you only have an hours grace but often I end up missing a program by an hour or so, so this is great news

I see the Place Holders have started for the new BBC HD channels on freeview for BBC3 HD and CBBC HD, presumably these will be available also on Freesat from 28.2° east at some point for European viewers. expected launch date is december

Tv boxes that will record your tv in the UK are so cheap.
Second hand anything from a couple of quid on the car boots, and best of all you will get a sata hdd inside anything from 180 gig to 500 gig and you can program them to do a full series are single event,
So if you get fed up with the box whip the disc out and it becomes handy for a storage device. also new they can be had for under £50.
But not Sky, or BT, or Virgin, because they record in stream.STR. and are only usable with a subscription.
and BT discs are not usable if you take them out of there box they are fully encrypted.
