Would you try to reinstall the last 32 bit version of vlc (2.1)?
If it doesn't work, please paste the whole error message.

That was the problem. I uninstalled vlc and reinstalled a different version.
The program opens fine and I entered my details, then clicked the update channels which worked fine.
But when I click on a channel in the channel list nothing opens. If I click the channel It does change the channel on my solo2, just doesn't stream it on the pc.
Any idea what the problem could be?

Would you please open the webif, start streaming a channel, get the link and paste it here?

Doesn't seem to work, but not sure if I did it correctly.
In vlc I clicked media and selected stream, then pasted the link and clicked play, but nothing opened.

Try pasting the link in the web browser and navigating to it.

Also try to zap to the same channel before starting the stream

bokkie do nt know if this will help but in windows 8 is .NET framework 4 alredy installed if not and you haven't done it, install from the Microsoft site and try again .
it is worth getting it working it is really good.

Thanks but I tried to install .NET framework 4 last night and a message popped up saying it is installed already.
Really enjoying the windows 8 UI but some things are proving a bit difficult.
Also having some problems with Dreambox Edit.

Excellent work mate, works a treat now. Thanks for your help and I really do like this program. I find it much quicker and simpler to use than Openwebif so you really are onto a great little number here.
