protek 9720 not retaining sat s

my friend.s protek 9720 keeps losing sat positions.will work for about a week then all gone again is it his motor or reciever.

Difficult to say, can't check (no motor and mine's a 9700), but is this happening with the alternative B***s soft? I know the latest firm is version v1.1, be sure your friend has this version. Normally should be auto-update.
