Re: New Generation of DreamBox
Obviusly there is only v2 and it's the second version of 7020HD, 800se, 500HD.
Here you can find more info about this:
Some extra info taken from other forum:
According to unofficial information would shortly be given to the sale
of new versions of Linux satellite receiver Dreambox 7020HD, 800s, 500HD labeled v2.
All new receivers will be equipped with 1GB Flash memory and 512MB RAM.
Processors should remain the same as the previous sets 7020HD, 800s, 500HD (400MHz MIPS).
If the receiver Dreambox 7020HD v2 is a big change about confess, since this receiver
has 1GB Flash memory and 512MB RAM is also currently marketed version.
Current is already available official software for the new receivers (OE 2.0),
which supports, among other things, eg. Web browser or HbbTV.
Prices of new receivers Dreambox 7020HD, 800s, 500HD
labeled v2 should be the same as the previous sets.If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks Button -
Re: New Generation of DreamBox
I love the flash and memory upgrade but using the same cpu is so totaly lame.
For the price these devices are selling you better buy a much powerfull receiver with next generation cpu that use less power and way more mips and even are cheaper in price than the Dreambox.
They can not compete to other brands with theire prices let stand alone the hardware they use and now 100% on the way to go bankruptcy.SatWaveDude

Re: New Generation of DreamBox
.. more 1GB Flash mem and more 512MB RAM.
... Processors should remain the same 400MHz MIPS ...
so they decided to make it attractive the laziest way possible
about the 400 mhz mips: i really wonder how much cpu is required to achieve heavy job --- this can be monitored with the top command ---
is that really a new generation or a revamp boxComment

Re: New Generation of DreamBox
I think that when the first new version clones come to the stores then will start the sales.
There are receivers as the vu+ solo2 much better than a dreambox and with more reasonable price than a original dm.If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: New Generation of DreamBox
Sad but true, dm has quit the race years ago, the only way of saving what built so far is if the company chance hands. If my post was useful, please, use "Thanks" buttonComment

Re: New Generation of DreamBox
As I know there is also an increase in inernal memory using for flashing the box because images for V2 are a little bit larger and you can not use them for flashing old V1 boxes.Dreambox500HD ICVS image, 110 cm offset dish with Diseq motor - 45E-30W, Inverto Black Ultra Quad LNB, Samsung 46c7000 3D TVComment

Re: New Generation of DreamBox
Do you think the 512mb of memory will be necessary in the future or it's only marketing? 256mb it's more than suffice?

Re: New Generation of DreamBox
@BlueIsMyColor
from what i'v been seeing these last decade
you can see also yourself, with your own yes
that the trend of soft corps volunteer to inflate soft size
to obsolete hardware and software
an run the consumption wheel
example: the boot pgm size
on w7: ~ 1000 mb
on linux: <100 mb
on dm500: ~ 30k
example: our adsl modem
their 4 - 8 - 16 mb flash and 16 -32 - 64 mb ram are enough to store, init, and run:
- boot, linux,
- shell, bash, vi, awk,
- services: telnet, ssh, ftp, tftp
- security: iptables
- network: lan, vlan, portforwarding, ...
