Re: Ultra-HD: First satellite transmitter to start in 2014
Mhh, mmh, mmh...
That's not really true.
The difference is 1,5 * 1,5 in resolution, which means 2,25 times more pixels in each picture.
And do you mean 1080p or 1080i? I don't know any tv station which uses 1080p at the moment. BD-discs do this.
You can see the difference on a 50" or larger screen with a native full-hd resolution. And these screens are getting cheaper and cheaper.
But if ultra hd is really usefull even on 50" screens? I also don't think so.If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

Really notice a difference between 720p and 1080p is not easy, especially on TV sets with a small screen, you need to have a TV with wide screen and not every user will be able to find any difference, there are probably notice the difference specialist.Comment

Personally, I can't find easy differences between 720p and 1080p.
Of course all deppends on the size of the tv, the resolution of the screen and the distance you sit from it.
Generally speaking, if you sit more than 10 feet away from your tv, and your display isn’t bigger than 50'', you won’t be able to tell the difference between 720 and 1080.If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

The point is: the majority of the screen sizes is under 50'. So there is no big differences in the image quality.

Re: Ultra-HD: First satellite transmitter to start in 2014
hi mates
Sorry, but I don't completely agree here, mine's a 40" and we're about 4m from it, image is clearly better on 1080(i) then with 720(p). And true, our BD-player is even a bit better. But I don't believe Ultra HD will be even better (not viewable anymore - perhaps just with indeed bigger screens from shorter distance) - my opinionComment

Re: Ultra-HD: First satellite transmitter to start in 2014
If you have a full hd-resolution and a good deinterlcer in your tv, 1080i is defenitly better.
In that case 720p means e. g. streching the picture from 1280 to 1920 points.
And if you have (in future) an ultra-hd tv even full hd and any other resolution means stretching from the native to 3840 point. Look at the picture quality on a computer monitor and you see the difference if you don't use the native resolution of the panel. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

Re: Ultra-HD: First satellite transmitter to start in 2014
The next step has just began...
This afternoon I saw in an electronic shop a 65" tv with ultra hd for the "cheap" price of 5500 Euros (panasonic) reduced from 7998 Euros. There was a test trailer in a 5 minutes loop. The picture was very good, but I didn't really see a big difference to trailers in normal full hd...If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment
