    Some SD Channels scrambled?

    Hi There,

Im not sure whether this is an iseue anyone else has experienced, but i seem to be finding alot of my SD channels are saying they are scrambled, but all of the HD ones work perfectly fine, without any glitching. Could this be related to a dish alignment issue?

My overall signal strength and quality are pretty good at 90% and 75%, so if anyone could give me some troubleshooting tips? I have checked with my 'provider' and all channels are up and available on the server.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards

    Try rescanning the transponders

    Edit:
Sometimes the FEC or the symbol rate is changed for some transponders. That's why you may need to rescan.

well two things as logical explanation.

either not all channels are up and available as you wrote

or more probably you need a fresh channel list .

do a manual satellite scan after you clean your existing list of channels or use and load predifined one

i guess your receiver is not a clone cause if it is it could generally speaking had some issues with image and proper function of transponders signal.

        Hi @Sotrue

I think that you don't have any dish alignment issue.

Your problem can be solved by a new scan on the channels.
Also, you can use a ready made channel list as Vhannibal settings for the satellites you want.

If the problem persist, you can try other version of the cccam or even you can try mgcamd because the problem maybe comes from the server you use.

          Re: Some SD Channels scrambled?

          Hi All,

I deleted my channel list last night and did a blind scan, this brought up 2 versions of the channel 'Gold' (I'm using this as my test channel as i know i have never been able to watch it) and neither of them work.

I am using a cheap Skybox F5, but considering most of the channels work (Well the HD ones anyway), it must be something else. I'm using AJ's channel list, which seems to be the most recommended one around here.

I'm leaning more towards it being a server issue now, even though the guy has told me its not. Unless there is anything else i can try?

          Regards
          Donna

when you say neither work you mean you get message channel scrambled?

if so this means that just service works but it is encoded

do you see free sd channels working normally ?

            that will be another clue

              Re: Some SD Channels scrambled?

Hi There, Yes the free channels work, as do most of the erm 'other' channels. It just seems to be the odd SD channel comes up as scrambled, where as all of the HD channels work without a hitch.

For example 'Crime and Investigation HD' works fine, but 'Crime and Investigation +1' which is SD is scrambled?

I was wondering if maybe i have an issue with getting a signal from particular transponders?

It all seems very odd to say the least, as i only seem to have this scrambled on a very few channels out of the entire package. And of course it will obviously be on the few channels i want to watch.

              Regards
              Donna

if free sd channels work can you clarify please if all sd scrambled channels remain "dark" or some of them work and others not?

to have a signal problem on transponders would be an option but if signal strength on your receiver's menu for these transponders that you have problem and they interest you looks ok then it may not be this

I do think 'Some' of them work, however i will check properly when i get home from work, as i don't watch a lot of them, it just seems that the channels i want to watch remain scrambled.

I'll update when i have tested.

It would be very useful to know what's happening on server side: can you ask the "guy" what is the state of your client when you are on a SD channel ?
You should do this check in real time, so you can also verify if the guy is telling you stories or he is really looking at server monitor (he is able to see your zapping activity).

                      Re: Some SD Channels scrambled?

Ok guys, i setup a friends box last night and as of this afternoon he has advised that he is receiving some of the channels i am not, so as i set him up on the same server as me for ease, im guessing it isnt a server issue....

This evening i have downloaded the firmware from the skybox website and reflashed my box and used a testline i requested today to see if i can receive these channels, but still the say scrambled. I'm running out of idea's here....is there an easy way to tell if i have a cloned box, or maybe a faulty lnb?

                      Any other suggestions are welcome

                      Regards

if you have signal level and it says scrambled it can not be lnb fault i suppose

if you had another box you could check if it is about skybox or not

Can you try your Stb on your friends installation. this will tell you if you have a signal problem or an equipment related one.

I still wouldn't exclude a server issue because clines and users are not defined all the same.
I would ask a favour to your friend to test your cline in his box: only in this way you can be 100% sure it's a box issue.

Hi Guys, apologies for the late response, ive been away. I have however managed to fix the issue by flashing some different FW onto the box. Im not sure why this rectified the issue though, seeing as i could see most channels, rather than all of them being scrambled. But i thought it was worth a try and it solved the issue.

                              Thanks for all your help.
