If the price seems too good to be true when purchasing a vu+ duo or vu+ solo, it is probably a clone.
To my knowledge the ultimo on solo2 have not been cloned yet.
Clones will come shipped with a rs 232 cable and have a sticker on the front for a website which has clone safe images.
Generally clones are sold by chinese retailers and sometimes on ebay.
Stick with well known, trustworthy retailers and you should be ok.

The clones are made in China and sold by chinese companies. They have made Vu+ Uno clones too. As other members said before: avoid clones. They give a lot of problems: bad components, drivers, it's difficult to install the latest images...

Are clones really that bad i have never owned one i have always bought genuine

The 3 duo clones I owned were really that bad. First one wouldn't move my dish, second one blew a psu taking my 1 tb hdd with it and the third wasn't up to much either.
