Re: ethernet from a dongle
Hi there i don't know if this will help but if you connect your dongle to a laptop and use it as an access point, could you then purchase a wifi repeater with an ethernet port and connect it to the dongle access point?
If you want any more info let me know and i will see what i can dig out.

Re: ethernet from a dongle
I agree, there is no need to install a driver on a repeater? The dongle will need to be connected to a pc/laptop to work. The wifi repeater will pick up the wireless signal from the laptop the dongle is connected to, unless im mistaken. You can use the internet connection sharing wizard.

There are more than just repeaters too, you can buy wireless routers that are internet dongle and phone line/cable compatible too. I had a Draytek router that was internet dongle and ADSL compatible years ago. Take a look here:

It might be worth looking to see if your current router has internet dongle compatibility already dawbrain? If you find my post useful, please use the "Thanks" buttonComment

Re: ethernet from a dongle
I think that you can do what you want with the repeater but the result will be very bad.
The ecm time will be very big and that's means that you will have many freezes in the picture. If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: ethernet from a dongle
Other solution could be to connect dongle to your laptop and use windows ics feature (internet connection sharing) to provide internet connection to receiver via ethernet port.Comment

Re: ethernet from a dongle
From my experience, provided your 3G connection has a good ping time, the 3G compatible routers and repeaters also have a good ping time too. The few milliseconds added by the router/repeater are so negligible it is unnoticeable. If you find my post useful, please use the "Thanks" buttonComment

Re: ethernet from a dongle
Can say if it will work with your receiver but i saw many people use the 3g dongle for cs and the it work ok. may be it will be better to get a new-used receiver that has wifi and usb port for less money than other stuff will cost you to do your job with the protek? If my post was useful, please, use "Thanks" buttonComment
