    Regarding new VU+duo2

    Got this email today .............

We are emailing all members regards certain retailers taking pre-orders and giving false information regards expected delivery date and price of the VU+ Duo2.

Please be aware that anyone giving expected delivery dates into the UK is giving mis-leading FALSE information.

The UK price has not been set, nor has the expected delivery date.

      Re: Regarding new VU+duo2

There is no set date and price as yet but it is looking like mid July at a bit under £500.
I received that email as well and know that that supplier is very trustworthy.
      Shouldn't be to long though.

Looks as an expensive bit of kit. If duo cost 500 how much ultimo would be?

Duo2 is much better than ultimo - is more recent and with much better specs. Vu+ ultimo costs about 400,00€.

            Yes, I can confirm that
The VU+ Duo² will be available from the middle of July / end of July.
The price of 500€ is a little high,
but the receiver is extremely good and sure worth it's money.

Well when you consider it has an extra tuner, is much more powerful, has a 3.2" colour lcd and room for internal hard drive.
You'd expect it to be a bit bigger wouldn't you?

It also appears that the duo2 will have an internal power supply, so the extra space is most definitely needed and justified.

In the review is possible to see a big difference between solo2 and duo2 concerning the transcoding. The Full HD transcoding of duo2 gives much better image than solo2.

The specs sound good, but i still worry a bit about the price, i don't actually see a reason to pay that much for a reciever. Why exactly should someone buy a reciever that expensive? Just for having to run a stable cardshariing server or is there any other normal reason?

                              hi,

as Vu+ ultimo costs about 400,00€., one should reasonably expect 450-500 €,

for, according to the present spec ( 2x1300mhz, 1gb flash, 2gb ram ddr3, gigabit lan,... ) a video-recorder-server-sat-receiver dedicated linux station,

that is the price of a laptop

this remains for linux geek, to boost it up at the top

but for common market buyer, i personally think it is a bit too high

and i am afraid this will attracts counterfeiter, bombs, ...

                              because of this high price

also, about 500 € is something like 2 new 250 € full-parallel sat rcvr, when required, fanless and silently ..
