Re: twin tuner
thx for comments backfitty and mobbley,
for your info, one guy told me times ago,
at that time he had a dual lnb, onto a analog kaon sat rvcr
when numeric pushed out analog,
it has been told me he just changed his analog into numeric sat rcvr,
keep the dual lng,
e voila ! ( + settings, ... of course ! )
---
ok, as i see,
many technologies + many brands -> many tests to carry out, to know how to do out there
i should try this sometimes ...

Re: twin tuner
In order to use the full transponder frequency on modern receivers you will need to use
Universal LNB's I.E 10.600 -12.700 old LNB's will not do.

Re: twin tuner
From your words, it appears to me that you want to use your receiver with old analogue lnbs. That is why you have problems because those lnbs are not compatible with your digital receiver. I think you should use it with digital lnbs and you can avoid serious problems.to push it even further,
i have some prehistoric single lnb ( used a long time ago by now, for analogic sat )
at that time, the channel had to be set by hand: freq, polar, audio, that is, for the freq :
if the channel freq is 12500 mhz,
and the offset-freq of the lnb is 11000 mhz,
i needed to set the sat rcvr the freq channel as 12500 - 11000 -> 1500 mhz.
if i change the lnb1 (offset 11000) for a new one (offset 10500 mhz),
then i needed to set the sat rcvr freq channel as 2000 mhz.
all this states the fact that channel settings is different, according to the offset freq of lnb1 and lnb2 are different.
by now, i am always surprised to see the sat rvr to tunes automagically onto the channel plain freq (ie 12500 in our example)
does that means the sat rcvr ask the lnb his offset and compute the difference ?
and finally and consequently, should those lnb be compatible with present sat receiver.
if so, i gain advantage to re-use those lnb, onto a secund dish, to feed the input2 of the twin-sat rcvr.

Re: twin tuner
ooooh, i see: what definitively confuses me is this:
'twin lnb' :
|-------|------|
|-------|-out1:|-=---- one single coax cable --
|-T-LBN-|------|
|-------|-out2:|-=---- one single coax cable --
|-------|------|
and, in fact i have only so-called 'dual lnb':
[ [lnb 13e] [lnb19e] ]:- --- single coax cable --- -:[in R1 :]- tv ( to watch and/or to record, but on the same channel )
if all this is correct, you suceed to clear my mind !
thx very muchLeave a comment:

Re: twin tuner
hi
as said, if you use a twin lnb, it has 2 outputs, 1 to each tuner/rec - don't switch up a dual lnb with a twin lnb! If you already have a receiver with 1 tuner, why would you buy a twin receiver extra (or can you build in an extra tuner?). If you don't use the loopthrough, definitely 2 cables are needed.Leave a comment:

Re: twin tuner
use the loopthrough -> brillant !
[ lnb ] --- one single cable -- -:[in RCVR1 out:]:- -- -:[in RCVR2 out]:-
subject to: same sat, same polarization .
---
twin lnb has always 2 cables -> ( ?? )
i presently have this: one box, 2 lnbs, 1 cable ( coaxial, 2 copper conductors):
[ [lnb 13e] [lnb19e] ]:- --- single cable --- -:[in R1 :]- tv ( to watch or to record, but on the same channel )
with a twin receiver, i should then have this:
[ twin R1 in1]:- --- single coax cable --- [:in [lnb 13e] [lnb19e] ]
[ twin R1 in2]:- --- single coax cable --- ????

Re: twin tuner
hi
- a twin lnb has always 2 cables (to 2 tuners)
- it's also posisble to watch 2 channels from the same sat with 2 receivers (possibly also with twin-tuner) if you use the loopthrough of 1 receiver - so with 1 cable: lnb -> rec1 IN and rec1 OUT to rec2 IN. Only same polarisation can be seen at the same time (both H or both V). That's the way I do it.
hope it's clear, if not: just ask.Leave a comment:

Re: twin tuner
hi,
thx pan1100 for your help !
this is the point for me:
-- so it seems possible to carry simultaneously 2 tv channels on ONE SINGLE cable,
on the same sat only,
from the 1-connector twin lnb
to the twin receiver.
that is the point hard to believe to me
--- also, i see on twin rcvr picture, that the read side do have 2 sat input connectors.
this is clear to me (in fact one rcvr box, but 2 twin parallel and independent receivers process inside)
thxLeave a comment:

Re: twin tuner
hi pppooi and welcome
- with 1 tuner you can watch 2 channels if they are on the same transponder (and sat)
- if you have a twin lnb you can watch 2 channels (also twin tuner or 2 receivers needed) from the same satellite
- also 2 dishes will work fine, if you have twin tuner or 2 receivers, so all is possible, also on different satsLeave a comment:

twin tuner
How to record and watch simultaneously ?
--- Can you record an encrypted HD channel and watch another encrypted HD channel ?
how is it possible ?
do i need a twin tuner ?
do i need one dish with twin multi-lnb (???), or 2 dishes with 1 multilnb each ?
