    Special receiver

Lately I see more and more special transponders.
Transponders that have different streams (stream 1, stream 15, ...)
Every stream is giving other channels.

Do you know a receiver that can handle these transponders ?
And do I need a special LNB for it also ?

    Thx

Hi mate and welcome to forum

Could you be more specific on what you mean?
Please, give us a link of a page that have more info about these channels.
Are you sure that they are satellite channels?
I think you have seen a page with live net streaming , am I right?

Hello, thank you for your reply

I don't know much of it, but I can let you look at it.

You will find 3 times under each other, the transponder:
      11914 H 27500 5/6 8PSK

      But with different streams:
      DVB-S2 stream 2
      DVB-S2 stream 5
      DVB-S2 stream 6

      lyngsat.com/Astra-1G.html

      Any idea ?

I don't seem to be able to get this satellite, I will try again when I have more time, but
it's a good question which I don't know the answer to, but would be interested to find out.

Any receiver with tuner that can handle 8PSK modulation should do the job.
No, you don't need a special LNB.

If you are referring to the ACM & VCM Streams that are now being used with DVB-S2
transmissions I do not think there are any receivers currently available. You can get a Professional PCI-E card for computers Tenow TBS 6925 which will do these and also 16APSK transmissions which are also now starting to show.No idea on prices but expensive I would think for general viewing.

              Regards Mobley3

                Re: Special receiver

As Mobley said, the only device I know that can handle multistreams is the already famous TBS...
The prices are not really unaffordable (about 40% more than a standard PCI device).
Using these you can get, for example, Mediaset links for terrestrial relays on 13° E and RAI feeds on 5°W, with also all regional versions of RAI3.
                (something else, that I don't remember, on 12,5° W).

Its correct, but we are looking for some STB. DVB cards are not easy to use for mostly users

I agree. But it seems so far there's no receiver for it. Maybe in the futur hopefully, when a lot more channels will use such transponders. Anyway due also the price, I don't think I will buy a DVB card.

                      As a matter of facts it's a different Philosophy...that I've completely adopted...
I couldn't stand no more the interfaces of "normal" receivers...on a pc you can do all more easily (working with keys, lines, etc.)

The TBS 6925 PCIe card handles 16 & 32 APSK transport stream perfectly, quite a few now appearing on both Eastern Sats and Western Sats

Probably is a lot easier as you say, but I think the main problem for most people with it is going back to watching on a relatively small screen, certainly I find it hard and also slightly alien.Hopefully we will see new receivers capable of showing these new standards emerge in the near future.

I agree with you, I understand that if someone is primarly a TV consumer that's not the straight way...
I was a little jocking, but seriously speaking now you can handle it all: first there are also big monitors, then a lot of TVs can be plugged directly to pc, last but not least you can use pc to drive a lot of "normal" receivers.

I agree with herrr on few points, but as compare with STB, just ON the switch and its ready, on other side Boot PC, start the application and some more tweaks, many time not a good video plugin, I encounter so many things before
