    Sky Dish Signal

    Hello Everyone
    Question
Is Sky digital dish good enough for Skybox F5
Just reading another thread where people mentioned they have couple or they want a bigger dish
How does it make a difference
Back to my question will my sky dish be compatible and will i have to move it around to get signals or is it good where the sky enginer has set it for reception
Sorry in advance i am new to sat system

    Re: Sky Dish Signal

If your sly dish is already correctly aligned on 28.2e, you will be able to use it with your new stb.
The reason people get bigger dishes is usually to get multisat or motorised setups.

a parable larger produces its ameliorative effects only in specific geographical situations and for particular signals. In your case, if well aligned and pointed at one satellite 28.2 you should not need a larger

        Re: Sky Dish Signal

When people talk about getting a bigger dish they usually want to get satellites with weak
signals or adding another LNB to pull in another satellite. If you live in the U.K and your are
only interested in 28.2e sly mini dish will be fine.

          Re: Sky Dish Signal

If you want to use it only for sky 28.2E, your dish it's ok
You will be able to watch almost all channels from this satellite.
If you want to receive other satellites, you have to buy a bigger dish.

            hi biggy

As you're new, I suggest you do some reading here in our forum.
Once you'll know something more about satlover and the clines, pretty sure you'll be more and more interested, shouldn't take long until you want to explore other sats (and honoustly: lots of choice/channels!). As said above, bigger dish need, more lnb's can be an option or go motorised.

As said above , it will be fine for 28 east .

When i first got in to satellite tv , old analogue days i had a mesh 80cm , put it ouside the kitchen window and had 2 strings attached to it , left and right . That was my first motorised setup . It worked pretty well from 28e to up to 5e .

If you're into football , at least a multi lnb setup is needed .
Maybe you can start with a zone2 and a monobloc .

will be fine as long as it is aligned properly and has not been moved since installed.

Also i think you can get thiese channels however if your dish be bigger you can get stronger signal and sustainable

                    Re: Sky Dish Signal

It depends on where in the UK you are.

There are two different types of satellite dishes used for Freesat & Sky reception in the UK, zone 1 and zone 2.

Zone 1 dishes are issued to England and Wales, this is because they are closer to the signal footprint (the area a satellite covers). A zone 1 dish has a 45cm diameter. This size satellite dish will work well in England or Wales as the signal is stronger in those areas. Unfortunately using a zone 1 dish outside of England or Wales will show that it cannot receive the best quality signal.

Zone 2 satellite dishes are of a bigger size than zone 1 dishes. The diameter of a zone 2 dish is 60cm this allows places like Scotland and Ireland to receive FreeSat or Sky as a zone 1 dish wouldn’t pick up a good enough quality of a signal. Zone 2 dishes also give you a better margin of signal loss against heavy weather. Using a zone 2 dish within the United Kingdom you will receive the best quality signal required in order to watch Sky or Freesat. Using a zone 1 dish you will also receive a signal in order to watch Sky or Freesat, however using a zone 2 dish will allow you too still receive signal in bad weather whereas a zone 1 your picture would fade or be none existent because of loss of signal.

For be sure, in UK 75cm is what i would recomend.
With 45cm you may experience problems when rain comes , also, it will be worst with MPEG4 signals who are more fragile.

The 28.2 degree signal is one of the strongest in the uk. All depends where in the UK you live. A 43cm normal dish will serve the purpose in the south. The more up north you go, the dish sizes gets bigger. The sly signal is not strong enough in up north an you would certainly need a bigger dish.

This is the foot print of the satellite at 28.2e and the size of the dish needed.

You can use a Zone 1 as far as Glasgow, i should know i worked scotland doing the Digital Switchover and those who chose Freesat nearing the border got a Zone 1 and those further up the coast required Zone 2.

With Astra 2F now broadcasting a Zone 1 will work anywhere for this satellite

When I look at the footprint, in Great Britain it doesn't really depend on your position.
More important are a correct focused dish, good cables and connections.
