26.0°e Badr 6 in UK

Hi everyone,

I know this is a very difficult satellite to pick up in the UK, but there must be some people out there that can. I've listed some transponders below and I just wondered if there was anyone that can actually tune into them and get the listed channels? If you can, would you be kind enough to give me your rough geographic location, dish type/size and LNB setup?

Also, if there is anyone 'close' to the UK that can get these, could you do the same please?

With a large C-Band dish you might stand some chance,but not on Ku-Band.
Suggest you have a look on Lyngsat and click on the BSS band to get the coverage map.It's on the right hand side of the panel next to the frequency listing.

Thanks Mobley3, I didn't realise Lyngsat had that feature. I've just taken a look, you're right about Ku-band, absolutely no chance. That footprint goes no further north than the Spain/France border with a recommended dish size of upto 1.6m with rain margin.

Unfortunately the C-band map does not offer estimated dish sizes, it merely shows that the UK can expect a signal strength of approximately 35 decibel watts. As the UK beam for 28.2e is estimated at 54dBW, 35dBW is obviously incredibly weak. Is there some way of calculating the theoretical dish size required using these figures?

i think you must use of best quality equipment
you use inverto lnb and good quality of switch and cable and then big dish
then test it

That's a lot of money to spend just to test it out. I think some recommendations from forum members would be more useful for now. I have heard of people picking up badr4 in the u.k. on dishes of around 1 metre, but I think badr6 is not possible.
I'm thinking of upgrading my dish to a 1.2 metre to get the movie channels on 26e.

Precisely bokkie, this would not be a cheap pursuit! I'm guessing I'm going to need a 2m dish at the bare minimum. Before shelling out on one though, I'd like to know what experiences other forum members might have had trying to get a lock on this difficult satellite.

I can pull in Badr 4 on my motorised 1m Gibertini combined with a very well focussed Inverto Black Ultra LNB. I like to use the best quality equipment where I feel it is necessary. Sadly, the channels I really want are on Badr 6 though

hi i have a channel master1200 i can pick up quite a lot of channels, but i only use it for the mbc movies whitch are fta.

Like you purenirvana I also use a 1Mtr dish with inverto black Ultra in Dublin. I get the channels on Badr 4 also. I believe you would need about a 3.8 Mtr dish for C-Band and probably 4.5Mtr or larger, to be able to get what you are looking for. Very expensive and then you would need to be able to accommodate it, never mind problems with the neighbours.

Yeah I can get those rob45 as they're on Badr 4. Not unsurprisingly, I can't get a sniff of Badr 6 on my set up at the moment though.

Wow! Really? I can probably accommodate 3 metres maximum without problems from the neighbours. I'm hoping there is someone out there that is pulling in Badr 6 on a 2.4 metre or similar though.

slighty off topic,
i have 2.70 dish in cyprus, but in storage at mo.
badr beams seem directly well over cyprus, i go in sept, and will take my box an try on sky dish i have there. also will try nilesat.
i also receive badr4 chns, mbc etc, on 1.20 dish here (east mids)

It's hard to receive Badr6 in north of Italy with 150cm so I think it's imposible in UK

In France with 2,50m , those channels are impossible to get.
As said before, you will need at least a 4,5 or better a 6m dish , and when i was living in my previous place, if the neighhbourgs made me take off a 40cm dish, then, imagine a 6m dish , you need really to have a huge garden.

You would need to borrow those dishes at Menwith
Sure they can receive anything in their line of horizont.
