    Good receivers available in India?

Are good quality STBs eg. dreambox or vu+ available in India or should I take one from the UK?

Do you mean buying (european boxes) in india or (importing) from india?

If the original is probably the same factory. So there should be no difference between the quality tuners in Europe and India. Clones they should also be the same because they are produced in China.

Re: Good receivers available in India?

I am not sure about satellite receivers but my experience in buying consumer
electronics in India was not good in terms of price eg Samsung Smart 40'' t.v
bought in U.K cheaper then a non smart Samsung 40'' t.v in India but what I
would say the customer service was good because a man from Samsung came
to demonstrate how to use t.v and to mount the t.v on the wall if required.

If not fake, receivers are receivers and are mostly made in China.
The problem is the brand.......and these days you can also get them by buying online everwhere in the world.
May also be cheaper in India.
                ****** online first.

If you buy locally then you have a better chance of sorting out problems should anything go wrong. As has already been said most receivers are made in Asia so it may be easier and also cheaper for repairs.

Re: Good receivers available in India?

In India, Originals ... well , i guess it must be rare to find a original dreambox there.
When i was in India , i did not found a TV Samsung , but there's a lot of local brands avaible.

If you can take one from Europe, better, after i don't know what is the voltage in India , but check it before buy a STB, could be a problem.

If you are in India, well, you may find a good store with original products and at good price, or maybe a local brand who is cheaper.

But i wonder, is there Cccam in india ?
I never saw sites with clines without of the Europe Extended ( Russia and till old Russian territorys) and also Brazilian footprint.

That's something I'd like to know too. Is there any cardsharing in India?

The voltage in India is the same as Europe.

The majority of people use cable (not HD) with most of the channels available
on satellite available on cable, coax cable is used therefore no need for a separate
stb but because it's coax the signal gets worse further it gets from
junction and also people can just hack into using splitters which also lessens
the signal it is very cheap. (Although I believe they are going digital)
Dish t.v (DTH) is the satellite broadcaster, the expensive option, a HD stb cost
around 3100Rs (£38) usb device needed to record and a subscription of about
599Rs(£7.50) per month gets you the royale pack, 345+ channels of which 39
are HD, you get sport channels in indian and english also movie channel in both.
Although DM's are available from select suppliers the cost is around 10000Rs
(£120) for a clone DM 800 HD that is why there is not much demand for the
more expensive receivers and also not sure if there is a cs scene in India.
Unless you are going to move to India or is someone who is a die hard cs fan
I would recommend you do research and see which is the better option for
you .(If I misinformed do correct me)

Thank you mahrkpat for a comprehensive reply. Yes cable analogue was switched off last month in the big cities and everyone requires a digital stb for cable. Local satellite stb's are cheap but I am interested in something like Dreambox in order to go motorised if good feeds are available and also try cs if possible.
