Cyfrowy Polsat has signed an agreement to buy Polskia Media, the operator of the TV channels TV4 and TV6, for PLN99 million (€23.7 million).
At the same time, it has agreed to sell RSTV, a company that distributes analogue TV and radio signals, to Emitel for PLN45.5 million.
The Polskie Media transaction is expected to be finalised this July and will require both the approval of the competition authority (UOKiK) and seller to buy up stakes currently held by minority shareholders.
Commenting on the Polskie Media deal, Cyfrowy Polsat’s president Dominik Libicki said that it is in accordance with Polsat’s strategy, which is to grow its audience share.
Both channels have DTT licences and the digital terrestrial sector is currently enjoying dynamic growth.
Cyfrowy Polsat will meet the costs of the acquisition from its own funds.
