    LNB and PCI Help

Is there a difference in LNBs or are they universal. I have a Quad lnb fairly cheap version HD Compatible. My signal quality is ok on my Skybox s11 about 78 signal 90 quality. but if i put it through my pc the signal is very low. I have tried various cards and now moved to the PCI DVBSky S2 S830 . It finds all the channels HD and SD but the signal quality is very poor and lost. The signal bounes between 20 and 40 out of 100. I bought a booster that was a waste of time. Now im focusing on the LNB and need to know the differences and could this be the problem.

as far as i know all lnb are doing the same job just some of thems are better than others. since you get a good signal on skybox focus on the pci.

already Changed the cable a few times and its still the same. Ive ran transedit and found thousands of channels on 28.2E but still same problem, Progdvb gave me same problems so i started just to use DVBViewer just because of its simplicity.

Im wondering if its a power issue with my PC but have no other problems any ideas,I already changed the dvb card to S2 from S all the cards seem to have same problem, Sometimes the signal dies completely and i have to reboot the PC, I think Kostis maybe right but i havent a clue how to resolve the issue.

And you can measure the voltage at the output of the card, may become unstable voltage is supplied to the LNB and this is the reason unstable signal.

do you have freezing or bad picture? Signal meter of dvb cards are not exactly the same. There is a great variance in different players ...

check if the driver card used in the program is compatible, because if not it will affect the quality of the signal ...

                        Re: LNB and PCI Help

Well i think, if you have a strong signal and quality at your reciever it can't be the lnb, either it's the PCI card or the software you use. The drivers shouldn't affect it, if the PCI card is recognized by the PC normally. You can see this in the Device Manager.

                        Good Luck!

                          Hi mate

I think that your lnb is ok.
The problem is on your pc.

Please, check your drives of your card.
Uninstall all the drivers, reboot, and then install them again.

If LNB is ok with your STB, then try with same working line through loop out of your STB to PC and put STB on Standby, I think it resolve the voltage isuue
