I have that setup but i dont use both at the same time although i have tried and it works, i have what i call a Feedhunting box and a general satellite viewing box both twin tuners and both have fixed diseqc dishes connected to other tuners.

Re: Two boxes, one motorised dish is it possible

I would like to add that is not recommended connecting 2 boxes to a diseqc switch as both boxes will put out voltages and damage can occur.
You have to be very careful in order not you damage your system.

An other solution is to get one more cable from your dish to the other box and replace your lnb with a new twin-lnb.
With a twin lnb system, one box controls the motor and lnb, whereas the other box is connected directly to the lnb and has no motor control.

      Best regards

Like i have said before i use 1 box to the motor and the other to a twin lnb but i have used diseqc for years before and never really thought about a voltage problem

          a) is it possible
          b) if it is how do you do it
          c) would you be able to watch different channels/transponders on the same satellite simultaneously?

          thanks in advance

the motor can be controled only from one satreceiver, the other one can be connected from loop exit of the first one

              sorry mate
The link you gave us is for a "2 satellite dish on one receiver"
and I think is something different from what we are talking about.
We discuss about "2 boxes and 1 motorised dish"

Re: Two boxes, one motorised dish is it possible

think you can only do two things:

1 - connect the second output of the first receiver (loop) and use one at a time.

2 - put a lnb with two outputs, connect a receiver to the motor and the other directly to the LNB.

i think you can use this way but you just can in same polarize

                    hi parsonline and welcome

                    - with loopthrough indeed, only same polarisation
                    - with lnb with 2 outputs should be no problem

Or if you are only going to use one box at a time a simple A B switch would do the job.
But I think twin or quad lnb would be the best option.

possible, but can cause problems if you do not turn off the engine before, because if not to detect the other which has no signal, would give order to locate the satellite on the other,

true, I forgot to mention, but I always have one stb standby if the other one is on.

Of course it is possible but it is highly impractical as you will lose track of which satellite you are on on one when using the other. If both boxes drive the motor too then it is even more impractical as every time you move the motor with one you will put the other out of sync. Best option is 1 box motorised, 1 box not, and switch the output between the two...

I'd go along the Odysseas opinion! That would be the best solution since it's the safest btw!!!

Also this 2nd solution is the one! But I can't stop myself thinking, what you get then with second lnb output, does it serve second receiver? By that logic, first rec. is for LNB control, and in that case this system would be most safe for viewing since there's a lot of channels on one sat at a time for both recs.
The thing with polarization problem, if present in this case, is not quite clear to me yet.??

cheers and thankz for clear up!

I use a rf splitter it works fine but can only have one box on at a time ,its fine if you watch in the lounge then go to bed and watch on the 2nd box.
the plus is both boxes can move the dish as only one is on at a time.
The pro is only one can be on one at any time so no use for other family members rooms.
