for the experts how often does the sat need repositionong as ive got a motorised system being installed at the weekend and think its 2 difficult for me and im not keen on getting someone in every few weeks as its costing me a fortune for the install not keen on paying extra every few weeks
    ====================================
also sounds to me like dish miss alignment, when you get (scrambled channel), with a weak signal it will show scrambled channel, even with motor, sometimes you have to move dish via remote, my box has a step funtion to achive this, (very handy).
you will not need to get someone in to re-positing, your box should be that tool.

On a similar note can i also ask a question. I have a motorised system that sits on tk brackets on a chimney on my roof. The chimney is on the northern side of the roof and i think the dish sits a little low. The guy who fitted it got a really good signal on 0.8w west (around 80%) but i am told that that bird sits highest in the sky. Until recently I had trees blocking the view from 23e to 42e but i have now had them cut down so i now get a signal on 28e. I was expecting a good signal but only get 25-30% and i think the lnb is not quite clearing the roof line, my question is (and sorry to hog the thread but it is kind of the same question) if i raise the dish up on the tk bracket by say 6 inches will i have to change the declination of the dish or should this do it?

          update

all channels came back lastnight just as i was going to work without me doing anything so it must have been a cline problem but got satlover premium now incase it ever happens again

the channels are not on again now on satlover cline dont know what it could be maybe a loose cable or something as these channels work when they want to

Sometimes this happens when you have a loose connection between cable and plug, switch and plug or lnb and plug.
I suggest to check this first.

              Hi rikksow
Buy yourself a meter for reading your signal m8 about a tenner out of Argos. Point your dish to Thor put the meter on THEN move your dish up that six inches then move it about till you get full reading on the meter again. Lock it down then try 28.2 and see if theres an increase in signal if so then venture further East.

I reckon you should first check all your connections.
Check f connectors and cable as it could be something as simple as that.

                  I can't understand you, dear

Do you have signal problem or just
the channels can't be opened due to Cline?

                    Re: lost half my channels

Working c-lines or not, this isn't the reason of signal lost. If your signal is good again but channels don't open (maybe internet connection problem or c-line problem), that's different topic and not to discuss further in this thread.

                      rikksow,
the declination angle is the movement of the actual dish (up an down) not left to right, should not need to touch that.
as you say you motorised so do as good member cannydo states, once lined up on 0.08
with best signal, after raising 6 inches, the motor should do the rest.
                      have fun.

Thats pretty much what i thought but thought i would just ask before venturing back on the roof. have got a cheap meter but never thought they were all that good. Have generally relied on my laptop and androind phone as seem to get better results than with the meter

The problem you described was a signal problem. You said the quality dropped to 40% etc, that is clearly a movement of the dish/motor and the fact that it has come back is not becuase of any C lines or premium, it is becuase the weather that threw it out has just thrown it back in. I think you should at least secure the dish or motor by tightening its screws so that it doesnt happen again becuase it will! The best thing was already suggested, to buy a satellite meter as 28east has a lot of signal strength and it will pick it up easily.

hi i had a problem with my lmb once tryed all my connections they were fine it only gave me a signal on horizontal when i changed my lnb everything was fine might be worth while checking which channels work ie vertical or horizontal.

In order to sort this out, i think you should take a look at the receiver when the channels go away. As far as i can see you have not mentioned what the receiver tells when the channel dont work. When it happens, take a look at the receiver and see if the channels have signal by looking at the signal bars with the name SNR / AGC. If they show 0% then it is signal problem for sure, if they show 50%+ then it might be some connection issue. Would be better to troubleshoot your problem with this info mate

I am always adjusting my satellite dish "weather" for fringe, especially uk spot 1mm out and I lose my channels other satellites I have no trouble at all the dish is situated on the balkan and a easyfix.
                                helped use "Thanks"
