when you said lost half my channels do you mean you lost them from your list or the are still there but they do not show? had you check your signal strength power?

Can you tell us which receiver you have?

Perhaps the channels were weak before and now something has moved a bit so that it was too much and you lost the signal.

im on sly uk 28.2 and most of the channels ive lost are the scrambled channels but not all of them im pretty sure its a positioning problem

for the experts how often does the sat need repositionong as ive got a motorised system being installed at the weekend and think its 2 difficult for me and im not keen on getting someone in every few weeks as its costing me a fortune for the install not keen on paying extra every few weeks

Must be signal lost, dish must have moved because of bad weather, moving your dish a little to east or west should solve problem, do this while channel that lost signal is selected so that you can checq while you relign it. Did that myself in past with fixed dish. Eaven with motorised dish it happens you need to adapt a litle after a lot of wind but easier to do

Try a rescan and see what it finds.
If there are loads of channels missing I'd say it's possible you need to realign your dish.

It will need 2 people if doing by guess work one on the dish and one shouting instuctions, and prob a 13mm spanner and some patience.

or take the receiver with the tv with you, thats what i did last time. i have to say that if you still getting some channels it will be easy to do it yourself.

                        Hi gelboy

A dish not protected from strong winds can be lost it's align.
I recomend you to do as dear runmo said.

First check if the channels are there or are deleted from your box.
If are deleted, upload again a ready made satellite settings to your box
and then select a channel that you had good signal before but now is lost or very weak.

Move careffully and slightly your dish right, left, up, down.
I'm sure that you will find the correct position.
Take a tool and tighten screws on well.

If you have a polar mount dish maybe you only need to swivel the whole assembly on the ground ****.
Before you begin, leave a sign with a waterproof marker so that you can eventually reposition it back.
Don't touch the bolts for latitude and declination adjusting: 99,99% they didn't move and they are really harder to fine tune.
                          Good luck !

                              hi gelboy

I have some relatives who have this problem now and then. When this happens, we turn the motor to get the best possible signal on a 'weak' transponder, once this is done, all is fine again (mostly for several months up to a year - near coast, so very windy condition). Easy to try yourself - think there's also an option to set some kind of 'offset'.
                              Good luck.
