    USB stick for recording?

    Hello,

Which usb stick can be used with a vu+ solo for recording?

I tried with a standard usb 2 stick but it got weird after 30 minutes of recording.
I got stutter with pixaleting images.

Can I expect better result with usb3 ?

Vu+ solo has USB port ver 2.0 , so usb 3.0 devices are not supported ( works as 2.0)

Yes, I know that but I'm talking about the "real" speed of the flash drive, write and read.

I honestly think that usb3 flash drive is faster than usb2. Some usb2 flashdrive are awfully slow.

No one did some testing with usb flashdrive or external ssd ?

Under normal conditions you can use every usb2 stick which has enough memory (and isn't full!).
How many GB are free on the stick?

The transfere-rate should not be a problem.

I've recorded often hd-films on a stick with no problems.

Well, I tried a 32 gb usb2 flashdrive (frehsly formatted and empty) and recorded a channel in HD with high bitrate.

ive tried some various usb sticks and there are differences.. dont know like other boxes handle this but the size of the recorded file is directed by the speed of the usb drive. if the datarate is too slow the data cant be written so fast on the stick, lower quality... so the faster my usbstick the better the quality....

I would try a program to test the speed of reading a writing a USB sticks.
Some USB drives have slow writing, and it can cause freezing picture.

i did the test because i was interested for myself and maybe for somebody else....

                box: gm990
                stick: transcend 32gb (usb3.0=

there is a statistic how many mbit the bitrate consumes...

                Mbit/S
                1'SD 15
                1'HD 100
                1'HD+TMS 150

                transcend 32gb (usb3.0) write 124, read 150

would be interesting to know about other devices...

If you suspect that the usb there is a virus you can always reformat a computer with antivirus software where obviously you have verified that it is clean.

                            Hi stu667,
but have you consider to attach an HD 2,5" via USB.
I've an 80Gb (max dimension allowed from my usb).
and I can store a lot of videos.
                            Have a nice day
