Can someone explain simply what causes the box to sometimes display 8888 and freeze on startup, and how to fix that?

Re: 8888 problem
Maybe you want to give some more information about what kind of reciver you do have. Try backup your settings before you do factory reset or update your firmware. But really it will be helpful if you mention your box type.Comment

Re: 8888 problem
Generally factory reset is the first solution when you have software error ( save your settings before). After reset you should also unplug power for at list 10 seconds to reset volatile memory.Comment

I have IPBox 200, but I've heard that it happens with many types of boxes.Comment

Re: 8888 problem
Sounds like a software or hardware failure.
I had the same on a display from a newly bought receiver. In this case it was a hardware failure (software reset didn't help) and I changed the receiver at the dealer. With the next receiver the problem had gone.If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!Comment

Re: 8888 problem
hi Jerry2020
Search on ****** on 'ipbox 200 manual' and on the first page you'll find a 'Unofficial guide for beginners' in english, download it, it's really interesting and I'm sure this will help you (also about saving settings).Comment
