      Re: vu+ solo2 review.

I've just transferred my movie collection over to my solo2 which is a mixture of mkv, mp4, avi and ts. Had no problems at all.
The gigabit ethernet made it a lot quicker as well.

For those who have this box (according to your experience):

in terms of flash memory, do you think 256Mb is quite enough for current/future days?

        regards

Plenty. Epg, picons, etc are stored on external usb.
Never had an issue and I have loads of plugins installed.

If you use the Blackhole image space is not a problem as you can use the Multiboot option which means you flash the image in the main Nand flash then get what ever size of USB stick you want say 8GB for example install multibooot on the stick and this will allow you to use the 8GB stick as your main nand flash part which means just over 7GB left for whatever you want to install plugin wise etc...

The flash is a splinter of stick I installed in multiboot FW 4 for testing and to record a 1 T HDD.
              Fabulous recordings in HD.

This thread is about the vu+ solo2, a completely different machine altogether.

Thanks Bokkie they are a fantastic box when I first cam across the solo2 I was really impressed with the specs especially the ability to transcode. I absolutely love messing about with my dreambox however I have to be honest I dont watch much tv its just one of my hobbies, I bet there quite a few of us like that on here. Thee problem I have is blowing £300 on something I dont really need. It would be just to play with. Maybe some kind family member might buy me one for xmas or something. In the meantime I can play with my xbmc box which by the way it is great fun reminds me of the hobby brfore cs something new every day

                            Regards

Just been looking at the Prismcube over in the other thread and its ability to run xbmc can not wait to read the reviews. After thinking about it though I think for the £59 I paid for my xbmc box I might aswell stay as I am with my dm800hd. Does look fab though
