    Re: Satellite Internet?

I didn't use it by myself, but a friend of mine did a few years ago. He was satisfied with the result, fast and stable. But I think it depends on the provider.

      Re: Satellite Internet?

I have heard good reports, although it can be expensive.
They normally have usage caps, so if it's just for cs you should be ok for around €20-€30 a month for a 2 GB cap
If you're using it for surfing as well it might get rather expensive.
My in-laws in Spain had sat broadband, and they had to shell out about €300 for installation on top of their €30 a month sub.

          Re: Satellite Internet?

Anyone know if exist a satellite provider that has a full pay-for-use program without monthly fees or with a very small monthly fees (like 5€ for example).
          Obviously with buying needed equipment.
          Thanks

Only thing that can affect the satellite internet would be the weather,
heavy rain and strong wind will have an effect.
It is best to check what the weather is like throughout the whole year
in the area in Spain you are in.

Sorry mate but the ones I have seen are about €25 for a 2 gb cap.
Don't think you'll find it as cheap as €5.

                Re: Satellite Internet?

To the best of my knowledge I think the time lag would cause problems along with the already mentioned high cost of installation and monthly running costs, certainly it was a problem that was mentioned a lot when I investigated it a few years ago and I did not pursue it for that reason. It may be better now.

                Regards Mobley3

They can provide download speed of upto 8mb which is not very competitive. But its still good in comparison to copper wire 8mb.

                      Re: Satellite Internet?

Internet by sat is a special service for those, who only have a small download data rate. The used transponders broadcast a few free information and the rest for pay, which is more expensive then a normal internet connection. But you still need a connection for uploading your site-requests.

I think the only advantage of satellite internet would be in remote
locations where there is no chance of any other kind of internet
                        connection available.

Another cheaper option, depending on location, is mobile 3g connection.
If there is a mobile phone mast nearby that could be the best option.

It is like any other internet service provider you sign up and install
necessary equipment and you are online.
