You can connect more than one recriver to a motorised dish. Using loop through, a manual a-b switch or even a twin lnb, with main box to have priority for changing satellites..
Multi lnb is more flexible as you can watch from different satellites simultaneously, but you can connect 2 receivers to a motorised dish.
Switching time is not bad i'd say about 10 seconds from 9e to 28.2e.
Switching between 13e and 19e is a couple of seconds.

      Re: what satellite next...?

The problem what I mean is that every receiver has to watch the same satellite.
When my wife is watching CSI in the living room (receiver 1) and I change the satellite by motor (other room - receiver 2) I can tell you what will happen...

for football you can watch JSC on 13e. There are many ***** channels and lots of movie and documentry channels too. Most of them are multi audio so you get English audio on them.
There is not much difference between switching time. I think many people can afford to wait 10 seconds to change over from one satellite to another.
The most important is that Motorised dish is a feaseable option.

          Re: what satellite next...?

Living in the u.k., our main viewing sat is 28.2e. So we have a fixed dish for sly UK and an 80cm motorised dish. I think this is the best option and gives instant switching to sly UK.

            Re: what satellite next...?

i must say its a fair debate at the moment theres a case for for everybody, i think i'll keep my static 28.2E sat and get a 1.1 metre and a monoblock for 13E and 19E which i can then go motorised if i want in the future, but then again i might just go motorised straight off..... decisions decisions decisions...

just timed for you, 39east>>>30west 40seconds, thats using tm-2300 super motor, no doubt some other brands of motors are faster, perhaps some slower, but ok for myself, i have 22sats stored in box for variety of viewing.

can agree with our good member digicon, DiSEqC switch for faster zapping.
but must say, if only 4 sats on 1 dish, you miss alot.

                Re: what satellite next...?

Buying a motor will be cheaper than buying a monoblock or two good quality LNB's. Both installation will need lots of time and patience and a good dry weather.

                    Re: what satellite next...?

Sometime you need a seperate feedhorn because the LNB doesnt fit to the exisiting one. I dont know if this will work or not. But just a suggestion to buy both from the same supplier and they can advise you on that. It might be a coupke of quids expensive but at least could save you lots of worrying.

                      Re: what satellite next...?

All Standard satellite dishes have a 40mm collar only Raven Sky dishes are different and of course feedhorns with C120's which are 23mm but they supply an adaptor to make it back to 40mm.

So yes that dish and monoblock will be compatible

                        Re: what satellite next...?

I would say go motorised straight away and keep the fixed dish on 28.2. As that's the setup I have.
If you do go multi lnb though, a triax td88 with multi lnb holder is highly recommended.
You could also get more than just the 2 sats. Maybe 9e, 13e, 19e and even 23.5e..
But like I said before, a motor and one lnb is cheaper than 3 or 4 lnb's.

                          Re: what satellite next...?

Thanks Toby! 40 seconds for 69° sounds slow but the motor has to to its job very correct. My problems are the three independent receivers and I have only one 90cm Dish. So no motor is possible. I think I have to buy a second dish with motor and connect it only to my main receiver.
