Can i switch between two receivers on one dish

I know about the loop through method but i believe it can lead to problems, would it be better to use a Satellite Cable Switch switch box to feed two receivers from one dish.
F Type Satellite Cable Switches allow you two switch between two dishes with two buttons A and B on the switch box ,do they work the other way round one dish to two boxes .
The reason i want to do this is so i can use my best receiver but also the other one which has much better record and multimedia ability , but not at the same time only one would be switched on.

    Hi Scooterman,

    Yes you can.

See this link, and click on the "questions" tab:

    _http://www.maplin.co.uk/aerial-switch-17808

However you can get these cheaper on eBay than at Maplins.

Also why not use a dual or quad LNB instead?

I agree. Why not just get a twin lnb and run a feed to each stb?
that way if you ever did want to watch/record 2 things at the same time you could.

Sounds like you have or prefer a one-cable solution from your room to your dish. I have the same problem (only one cable in my living-room).
There is no problem in using 2 receivers on one dish at the same time, but they must use the same "frequence-band" (high or low) and the same polarisation (h or v). If you use only one of them and the other is off, there is absolutly no problem.
No switch necesarry, only a simple signal-splitter.

You can use a splitter If you are not using both receivers at the same time. It will split the canle to both receivers but only similar polarity will work on both. If one is on V polarity then the other one should on same polarity. Similar for H.
I know its not the best solution but its gonna cost only a quid or so.

              to gcms:

Some receivers keep their 14V or 18V signal (for switching h or v) even if they are in standby mode. Thats the worst case for a one-cable solution and you need a switch or a second cable from the double or quad-LNB.

if you want multi-room, you have been pointed already in right direction, duo/quad lnbs and feed to each box, best and only way without hiccups, why do the biggest satellite provider, and we all know who, do it that way.
                reliable, only downside, ugly cables.
Do not send me iptv/cline requests,

                I will not answer!

Twin Lnb really is the best way to go, It will give you the best option with regard to viewing
as two different channels can be watched at the same time. does mean running a second cable unfortunately.

                    Regards Mobley3

                      hi,
if you want to use both receiver at the same time you should use twin ord quad lnb. Otherwise you just have to split the signal of the lnb.
                      Please push thanks.

I don't know if I understood right way, but I think they're talking about two receivers, not two orbital positions...
Anyway, if the question is using two receivers, I remember that for example the original box of SK* IT works not together with other receivers...

He asked for 2 receivers on 1 dish (or cable). a very simple or cheap solution is something like this:

                          _http://www.amazon.de/SAT-Verteiler-2-fach-5-2450-digital-tauglich/dp/B000LB4QJY

but still the problem with h or v at the same time.

Yes one dish both boxes in the same room so i can use either one of the two boxes, only one box will be powered up at a time.

I looked at this thinking it could be used one dish to two receivers....
                            _http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280836898369&ssPageNam e=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

But i think your splitter would be better then i would'nt have to press buttons .
The splitter will work fine as only one box will be used at a time.
