    Shafted by the Alsat shop

I was discussing in another thread how my buddy had bought two spiderboxes + dish motor and home plugs ,i installed them for him then after three days one of the boxes became faulty with the F100 error at start up,and after recovering it once the fault reoccurred and could'nt be recovered a 2nd time.

You will find this hard to believe my man package the receiver up and sent it back to them via Fedex tried to deliver it to them but could'nt deliver at the front of their address so they were carded to phone and arrange re delivery ,they did'nt bother their back sides so at a later date Fedex once again attempted to deliver the package and again could'nt get anyone to recieve it at their shop and they were carded again to arrange delivery or they could pick it up from fedex if more appropriate ,for a 2nd time they did'nt make any attempt to open the door or reply to Fedex .
He phoned Alsat during all this to ask what they were playing at ,all he got was mumbo jumbo runaround then his phone blocked from further calls ,he phoned them on his mobile and they hung up.
After paying over £500 and having nothing to watch in his lounge the service from this crowd beggars belief.

The only solution we could find open to us was to buy another receiver ,we found a good deal from ebay a eaglebox 800 HD for £49 inc p&P so that comes tomorrow and i have the job of setting it up which will be new to me.

If i post this on Alsat how long would they take to ban me and remove the post,I hear this happens there all the time.

Truly dreadful behaviour, maybe you should send Darkman a PM and see if that prompts any reaction, I did read on the forum that the shop is closed for holidays at present according to one of the Admins.

They knew the box was in transit they just dont care ,the customer care mumbo jumbo is'nt worth the hassle ,a little bit of clarity from them would have been nice in the first place.
Someone trained in customer relations to answer phones and take messages is severely lacking there.

        Sorry you had problems.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure not to buy from them in the future.
In my experience, there's one name that comes up again and again as the most trustworthy and honest. World of satellite.
Their prices are normally good too.

The most trustworthy store for me is Satellite super store. They are far in the north and expensive but trustworthy. One of my best buddy shops from there and visits the store often.

Read on another forum a guy sent one back and managed to get a replacement then 3 days later the replacement done exactly the same f100 and could'nt be recovered.
It might be a bad batch but from what i have read they are much more prone to f100 death than 9000's.
Got my usb stick loaded with patch ch'list etc for the £49 Eagle box coming tomorrow ,at least he will have something to watch ,if its good i fancy one as a spare box for that kind of money,.

good luck, scooterman with the eagle,
myself, not to keen on buying things from people i cannot see, i purchased mine from an off-shoot of that crew, (so he said) but this way you can always talk to a face, sorry to hear that friend perhaps waste lotta £££s.
keep us informed anyway about eagle job.
                take care

                  hi

Just to add: same here, try to buy from someone you know, or at least can see ; webshops may be a bit cheaper, but bigger chance on discussions afterwards (warranty, freight costs, package damaging, ...). May be oldfashioned, but still like to discuss/see people ...

I would love to have the option of buying from a shop, but there are none that stock vu+, dreambox, spiderbox, etc in my area.
all the satellite shops here only do freesat/sly boxes.

                      hi bokkie

sorry - bit off topic, hope it's ok ...

here in Belgium (northside = flemish) a lot of shops, ok mostly they provide approved TV-Vlaanderen boxes, but most of them also have alternative boxes in stock. Honoustly not so much webshops here, there are more of them in the netherlands, germany and the uk (and mostly a bit cheaper, but as said, for me not worth taking the risk).

When I first got my 9000HD over 2 and a half years ago I had to return 2 dud boxes. I took a trip to London and took them directly to the Alsat shop where they reviewed the problems and happily replaced them. Appreciate this isn't an option for some though.

I live about 30 miles from london. Factor in petrol, congestion charge and parking if I drive. Or train fare if I use public transport, and my stb has cost me £30-£40 before I even start.
Really wish there was a satellite store nearby. Would be great to actually see what you're buying.

you wont be the first or the last ex alsat customer, after sales is a joke to them and if you complain on the forum your out. you could try citizens advice. if the box is new its still under warranty.
