    USB WiFi Dongle

Can anyone recommend a good wifi dongle for the Skybox F3?
I have tried 2 that I had lying about the house - a Buffalo (which looks very similar to the 'official skybox' one) and an Edimax.
Neither of these are 'seen' when I plug it in to USB and neither of them become available after I change the Network Local Setting to wifi device, after reboot the wifi manager is still greyed out.
Both of these will work when plugged into my windows PC. Is this the devices or me missing something, ie is there some software you install to get this working.
If not, is the official one I have seen on ebay the one to get or I have seen a TP Link USB dongle which seems to work with the Skybox?

    Re: USB WiFi Dongle

If you can get a local supplier, tell them your problem and buy different dongle with the warranty, if it disnt work then they will give you refund. Thats your best option mate. You can never say which one will work with which box until you try them out.

Vonets or a Tenda will do the job as probably most of the dongles are not supported for the skybox due to being closed source, The only one i saw available was on fleabay for £8 an official one

U can consider to get a cheap router and set it up to work in client or repeater mode as I do with my DM500S.

Someone told me in a store that those made by realtek work fine... need to be confirmed.

                Hi dac12,

That idea can be very usefull to me Can you explain better?

Do you have 2 routers and one is connected to one STB and another wireless router connected to other DM500?

                Thanks

Depends on what and where you want to connect ,do you want a wireless connection with your F3 within your home??.
Or do you want to connect it to 3g on say the 3 connect network so it can connect remotely.

The Vonets vap11g is a wifi bridge not a router ,it will enable you to connect wirelessly to a router without the need of a ethernet cable, but you still need a router that can connect to your vonets wifi bridge,,.

A working comination for Eaglebox/skyf3 is vonets 11g wifi bridge and a 3 connect 3g wireless router and if you already have the wireless router then you just need the vonets bridge.

If not the Tenda w150m will make the connection to your F3 via ethernet cable and then connect to wireless dongle which you plug into it but be aware its limited to which wireless 3g network it can connect to ie 3 connect ,when i looked at one last week i changed my mind as small print said not fully 3g compatible which wopuld really make it only good for wifi hotspots.

A configuration with vonets and router/3g router seems the best way to go.
