    What is BISS?

As per title really. I've looked across the site and in the Glossary and still don't know what it is.
I can't tell if its an emulator or an actual channel. Anything to do with BIS (france?) or is that something completely different?

A type of encryption to encode the channel for a provider. Perhaps the easiest to break and input into a box...

          Re: What is BISS?

Ahhh. Thanks everyone. I feel like a prat asking questions sometimes but I do a lot of reading and sometimes you just can't find an answer (or at least one you can understand!)

So BISS falls outside the more complicated encryption methods and would have a separate linux based solution to decrypt hence the input strings posted on the forum?

            Re: What is BISS?

Just to add a little more,
There are manily two types of BISS Encryption used.
BISS 1: these transmissions are protected by a 12 digit hexadecimal key as session key.
BISS E: the decoder stores a secret key which is unknown to the user of the decoder. The user is then sendt a 16-digit hexadecimal code, which is entered as a "session key". This session key is then mathematically combined internally to calculate a BISS-1 key that can decrypt the signal.

no, CW (Cryptoworks) is another encryption, see _hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptoworks
