Sky Sports UK - Free Weekend

Sky Sports 1/2/3/F1 are free in UK this weekend on cable (and I presume freeview?) from now til Sunday evening.

I haven't had the chance to test satellite yet.

    edit:
no, not freeview so looks like just the cable platform

Free on satellite as well. I've watched a bit of the cricket already.
Gonna watch my sharks smash the reds tomorrow!

Just checked on my sky without subscribtion. Not free on Free to View from sly. You may need a basic package subscribtion to watch the sports and F1 for free this weekend.

Yeah agree. Worked fine on cable but seems to want subscription for satellite.
Can anyone with a basic subscription confirm whether its clear or not?

It's clear with a basic sky subscription, its a little misleading how they word these free weekends as most people who have a freesat white card think they can pick them up also.

Just to be clear you need a basic Sly subscription to view this free weekend

And just to be clear (pt2) you can also view sly sports with basic cable (virgin) subscription if you have one...

Yes, you must have some sort of official subscription for your box to view this. It would be impractical if it was available on freeview as the whole UK would be able to view free sky sports but freeview users will not be able to subscribe easily as this process is ardous for freeview. But for people with satellite if they like what they see they can easily call up and build on their subscription and they easily gain new customers. Good business platform idea I think for them.

                  ------------------------------

yes odysseas1991 has hit the nail right on the head,
the biggest tv provider, is baiting the already over sub-scribed users so if they pay say a little more look what you can get, good promotion ploy but, while its free watch if you can, (sly sports uk - free weekend).
i wonder, why not promote when premiership football on, perhaps a few football players wages get dropped?? then.

Re: Sky Sports UK - Free Weekend

I watched Sky Sports F1 for the grand prix this weekend. I took my viewing card out of my Sky HD box (I have basic sub, no HD, no sports) and put it in my OpenBox S10. Sky Sports was not clear & would only work when I entered my BoxId unlike regular channels, there it still required 'pairing' to be viewed.
