its a basic plug and play box. There is no third-party software support to my knowledge, but official software has been updated to address user-reported problems, on a regular basis.

some software developers support this box with spark, some plugins are compiled by users to run with spark os and some programs or tools dont run or are not able running on this os....

but if i got problems i can switch to enigma2 which is well supportet..

The other best source is ******, as pan1100 suggested in one of his earlier posts. They have got their own website running called openboxforum but not much on it and most of the problems discussed there are a bit basic.

One thing I'm not sure about: is in the SD-section ; really don't know if there is a S12 (SD) and a S12 HD or not ...

Perhaps this thread has become more confusing for you. I have an older S9, and its a handy cheap starter box.
Especially if you just have a ŠKŸ minidish already up. It'll do the things you want & as someone already posted- there are free lines here, to test it out first.
Its quite simple to do. Bear in mind though, the box has only one tuner. So you can only record the 1 channels its presently tuned to.
Let us know when you have received your S12, and we'll help you through it

Extra info:
- use only 1 cline from the same server at the same time (forum rule!)
- with 1 tuner you should be able to watch a channel and record another from the same TP (perhaps even more on the same TP - depends on the box).

Good starter box can do the things you want it do, buy this learn things then you can make a more informed when going for a more expensive better box.
