What does the duo2 do that the ultimo can't? Play avi, mkv or other video files?

I am interrrested in a Duo2 due to the fast cpu and substantial DDR3 memory, but why are these new generation receivers still using a slow USB 2.0 connection for video export to an external HD in this price category I don't understand.

      See ya...

It all depends on what you want the receiver for.
I doubt it'll replace a purpose built htpc, but the extra processor/memory will make for a decent little stb/htpc.

Not really a problem for me as I do everything on my network. Usb is only used for my flash drive and for flashing images.
But i see where you're coming from.

That is a great price for a twin tuner. Lets hope the transcoding capabilities wasn't just a typo, that would be a great feature.

Probably only after they are released in mid december.
I've seen a couple vids posted by a european distributor, it looks fast!
                Rebooted in about 10 seconds.

When someone has parted with there hard earned and can give an end user unbiased opinion, I would have bought one but i want to see what the tuners are like first and i am more inclined to go for the Duo2 which is even faster so am awaiting the release date.

In the meantime i decided to upgrade my DrHD F15 to the DrHD Grand Triple which i really like as i know that the tuners for DX'ing would always beat any linux receiver currently available.

                    Wow! That's speed of light

Let's hope there's more surprise in it, feature wise.

Oops. I meant to say startup is about 10-15 seconds. Reboot on the vid below is a shade over 30 seconds. Still fast though.
Saying that, it is largely dependant on image, plugins, etc.
Have a look at the pip in hd as well in the vid below.

                        I have one:-)
Really fast and very reesponsive. Channel change, scrolling through menu, flashing of image, etc all very fast. Still has a few bugs but I'm not sure whether they're image related or driver related as I haven't had time to try a different image yet.
But will have a play over the weekend.

                          Hello,

Can you tell us what the new features are ? Beside the speed, is it worth buying?

depends on what your upgrading from if you have an Uno or Ultimo its not worth it IMHO.

It has transcoding feature, which is still in beta. Very fast zapping, flashing, etc.
I think it'll come into it's own when the devs start utilising the extra power it has.

Vu+ DUO2 and Vu+ SOLO2 as real improvement for those who plan to update the internal HDD via a Network with Gigabit support.
                                helped use "Thanks"
