Can I pick up free to view channels with any satellite dish and LNB, or does it have to be the correct one for the channels you are receiving?

Re: free to view
hi
With 'free to view' I suppose you mean FTA or free to air channels?
I don't know which box you have, but with most boxes you can receive the FTA channels, depending of your installation and location (lnb, dish). About location and receiving you can search on the internet about reception where you are located.
However I know certain providers 'offer' a box in combination with a subscription, card and/or cam. Some of these boxes are blocked after ending your subscription.
To see which channels are FTA and on which sat, there are some interesting websites (such as king of sats, lyngsat, ...)
Hope this is an answer to your question, if not please be more specific. -
Re: free to view

Re: free to view
Yes you can. You decide what satellite to position your dish to to recieve the particular freeview (FTA) channels that you want. I would assume 28east would have the best range in the UK for this. And you simply tune your digital box satellite to the required transponder frequencies which can be found on alot of various sites online.Comment

From 24-02-2012 all channels were moved from Astra 2D to Astra 1N which is more powerful satellite and has better reception with smaller dishes (1.80m for albania)If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: free to view
the '$ky free to view' package which you mention includes many channels which are 'free to view' but not 'free to air' (FTA)
according to $ky website their version of freesat has 240+ tv channels where 'normal' freesat (free to air) has around 140+
any dish pointed in the right direction connected to a suitable receiver will get you the FTA channels, however the '$ky free to view' is not exactly the same thing, and can only be got either with $ky's equipment, or by other methods such as a server etc.
$ky's free to view setup includes a viewing card which, according to their site, they may turn off 'for security reasons' and you have to buy a new card to get the encrypted channels back again ...
... not as 'free' as you might expect, more expensive gear and the chance they can sting you for a new card
hope this is helpfulComment

Re: free to view
The Sly card costs £20 from sly website. You can also use the sly digibox without the card but you wont have channels prioritized to your area. You can get the BBC1, BBC, ITV and Channel 4 HD without the viewing card but you will need a card for Channel 5 HDIf you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button.
