    Problem with certain sat channels

OK, so I've had this problem for a few months now. I've asked so many local forums, but none of them had the right answer. I've tried everything, including:

replacing the LNB with a new one
    repositioning the satellite
    chaning the receiver
    putting the newest channel list
    triple-checking the frequency

NOTHING! So, this is the problem:
When I try to watch some channels from digiTV (1.0W) especially NovaTV, RTL HR, Discovery, National Geographic, etc. THEY DON'T WORK, it says "no service"

Also, fox life and nat geographic on (16.0E) sometimes get scrambled so much, I can't watch (the cs works, it's not that) those channels...And also a lot channels from the EutelW2 satellite don't open up (i don't get the frequency - it says SNR 63% but AGC 0%), but some of them do...

That also stands for certain channels from other satellites...

I think that this has something to do with the DiseqC motor, because the sat equipment is on top of a 8-story building, and it was 4 years up there. I mean - there were strong winters, cruel summers, etc... I think that's the problem..

Because, the motor works (and it moves) for channels that we didn't watched, but it doesn't work(doesn't open up the frequency) for the channels we have watched...

Re: Problem with certain sat channels

Could this be related to certain transponders having a difference signal 'strength' than many some of the other transponders (that you are receiving without any issues). ?

From my own setup I know I can receive

6'Eren HD 10778 V on 0.8W Thor (K1 Nordic Beam) with no BER (or low BER in poor weather)
    But
PL HD 10747 H on same satellite i get terribly high BER and the picture garbages all over the place.

Both Transponders are the same numbers wise..

Are you able to post your SNR, AGC & BER numbers for the channels your having trouble with? Someone on here may spot something in the numbers that might help.

    Just incase..
SNR = Signal to Noise Ratio - which means signal quality
AGC = Automatic Gain Control - which means signal strength
BER = Bit Error Rate - which shows the error rate of the signal.
Dislikes the Chinese Openbox Receivers, so much..

were you getting these chns sometime before?, if so elimenates dish size?
as you say on high building strong winds, i have had similar probs before with high winds, getting some sats and not others, where as before stong winds no problem, motor probably moving to right position but elevation or dish has moved slightly on the motor pole.

I once had a similar problem and solved it by deleting the channels with problems, than check the Transponders/Symbol Rate/Modulation/FEQ and rescanned them. Problem was Symbol Rate had changed (manually changed the transponder).

No, this is the first time in 4 years... I've tried changing the elevation, its very tight (I've changed it, tried to receive something else, but nothing)

No, I've changed another receiver the same thing does it over there...Updated to the newest channel list but NOTHING

problem is the adjustment of motor. You should do this with highest precision
                    Please push thanks.

Re: Problem with certain sat channels

I was ready to say that the problem is your receiver...

Especially in dm500s is a very common problem,
But you said that you tried with other box and the problem is still there.

so, I think,as pat3 above said, that you have to adjust your motor more accurately.

Another solution is to use another ready channels list.

                        hi

Sorry, but personally, I haven't got good experiences with channel lists of others. I think it's better to do a sat/TP-search with the receiver itself. Afterwards you can always change the list on you computer if needed.

Correct, I'm pretty sure this is the case for most makes and types of boxes (I know this is so for 4 makes, appearantly also with the VU+). Scanning yourself and sorting things out takes more time at the moment itself, but can save you a lot of time and frustration afterwards trying to get a 'wrong' loaded channels and channel lists right.

I have a dm500s about 6 years old and thge biggest problem is the lack of memory quite often dependent on image you can only install 1cam and forget any other addons so keep the number of channels low. why have them on there if you dont need them?
                              People tend to forget this.
