So I've finally taken the plunge!

After all these weeks of research, umming and ahhing between blade, dm800, vu solo, vu duo, vu uno, clone or original, spiderbox, etc.......
I've finally ordered my reciever! Got a Vu Duo clone on it's way from nottinghamshire.

I didn't really want to buy from China, as this will be my one and only box.
Didn't trust aspley in huddersfield, so was going to buy an original duo from wos for £300 delivered.
As I was logging on to buy it this seller from satstore tv had only just put ad up for duo clone, ic update installed, black hole 1.7.2 installed, cccam installed, channel list installed, etc for £229 delivered. Even threw in a 3 pin plug
Thought it was a good deal so I took the plunge.
Rather deal with uk supplier than china, even if it costs £30 extra.
Now to get to know my receiver on my sky dish until I get motorised dish installed in a few weeks.
I'm gonna be bugging you guys non stop now, Lol

I don't like tinkering, don't have the time or patience.
I like to take things out the box, plug them in and voila, it's working. Haha.
No seriously, with a 5 year old, 2 year old and my missus working weekends, etc.
I don't want to spend hours just getting it to work.

you seemed to have spent lotta time on research bokkie an deciding on which box to get, why not set up dish an motor yourself in stages not rushing, you only got to point motor 0.8 west an line dish up on a signal, but never that easy. if i remember right you limited for space.
Do not send me iptv/cline requests,

technical or iptv/cline server questions in PM!

I will not answer!

good choice on the box, took me quite some time setting it up with my motor and in the end had to call a guy who fits in pubs, cracking job he's done with my setup; there isnt much I dont get within limits of the geography thats to fine tuning...

My missus works most weekends, and I dread to think what the kids could get up to whilst I'm stuck up a ladder all day.
I'm off on holiday soon so hopefully get it done just before or just after.
Get to know the box a bit first.
Also have to get new broadband provider.
Don't want to chance it with sky if you get my drift.

Re: So I've finally taken the plunge!

out of interest which broadband did you go for. I am in the situation that leaving Virgin at end of month. New phone line in on 14th and now need to get a Internet provider that is not going to clamp me for downloading and sat tv eek.

I forgot to say that I have checked out the following deals that maybe of interest for anyone looking at ISP's in the UK

Currently the post office is doing a deal where you get your line install for free, and £50 credit after so many months. Line rental a bit steep at £12.25 but you do get evening 0845 and 0870 numbers free for the privalage. o2 are probably the next cheapest one that I could find at the all rounder package at £17.75 and using Quidco if it comes off will get you another £100 in the bag. combine the credit of £50 with your line rental at Post office and quidco with o2 means your paying

£8.08 a month Line rental post office
£4.79 a month for O2 broadband all rounder package approx
Combined total monthly cost of £12.87

Post office deal is only till end of March though. O2 price could be even cheaper if your an existing customer. I am not sure about either of the providers service quality as I have never used them before.

Hope that helps someone but if there is a better deal someone knows about please let me know as I need an ISP with good unlimited package and a traffic management policy that does not penalise 60gb a month download

Im looking at o2 through quidco. Works out about a fiver a monrh for the 1st year, but then £17.50 per month after that. So will have to change after a year.
Them or tesco

Re: So I've finally taken the plunge!

In regards to Tesco, I was on virtual chat with them and they were slippery eels when it came to getting any info out of them.

"
Aly: I can join Tesco when I have an active line, Newsgroups sites and internet tv is not effected by speed throttle / traffic management but are effected by amount of traffic on the line during entire day and night up to 12 midnight.

Aly: I can try the £16.50 package for up to 3 months and if I am not happy with the speed that I am getting during that time I can simply say I want to leave and there will be no charge other than the one months notice period?

Andrea: Yes, you can join Tesco provided we have network coverage in your area. We'll be able to confirm this when we have the telephone number and the line is active.

Andrea: It's too early for us to give an estimate of the speed because we need the an active telephone line to check the speed.

Andrea: Yes, you're correct, you can try the £16.25 deal ( if we have network coverage at your place) and if you're not happy with the speed or service, you can cancel within 3 months without paying a cancellation fee for the remaining months of your contract.

Aly: I understand that you cant give a confirmed speed at this point in time. Can you confirm that my understanding of what I said above is correct or is there any part that I have missunderstood

Andrea: Yes, you've understood it right."

To sum up there seems to be an issue where they are basically saying at any point during the day or night up till midnight speeds could be low. She refused to give me a speed to expect due to not having an active line. She also could not give me a speed to expect during the peek time that would not be what was advertised.

Bexy-boo is her ebay id.
She is from satstore.tv, but she does the box setup (ic update, image install, cccam setup, etc) for free.
Satstore.tv also charge £229 for the box but charge a £15 for the box setup.
Very helpful lady. When I enquired about 3 pin plugs and ethernet cable, she said she had some at home and would stick them in the box for me for free.
I reckon It's not a bad price for a uk based dealer.

I've pm'd you the ebay link,
She also has free postage, satstore charge a tenner.

Just drilling a hole through the wall to run the cable and the bloody drill bit is to short.
Bollocks!
Off to B&Q I go then.
