First thing to do on spiderbox is activate your gift or ethernet.
if it's a new spiderbox you'll have a year access to gift channels.
I can point you to a guide on doing this if you like.

I suggest you copy and paste one of Satlover's free lines from this forum usiing an USB memory stick. The first may not work too well so persist and try another line. One usually finds that there are more glitches when other folk are using their boxes so first attempts are best made early pm or early am. Perhaps I should have said, to add your line from your usb , go to usb in the menu of your spider and follow the instructions. That will get you going. The next step will be to find a source of robust lines when you are conversant with the techniques of pasting in lines.

u can enter the lines manually or thru usb. free lines can be frustrating especially as u are a newbie. the more useful posts you have, the better lines it will be. i suggest you try a premium line even just for a month for a tenner then decide from then on. don't hesitate to ask as here, people are willing to help. good luck.

hi billypugh, you found the right site, plenty people have been in your plight on here before but soon learn by asking questions, then you soon learn.
i enter lines manually but that a personaly choice.
have a good look in english dicussion, plenty threads an pages to look an learn on how to do, but dont worry about asking via posts, as been said before more posts better free-server.

Entering lines by usb is very very easy. In detail: on the spider forum you will find a specimen cfg file. Copy it to your usb stick (I actually copied it ten times labelling them "server 1", " server 2" etc. Then go to satlovers free lines. Highlight and copy the line of your choice (just random- you can't tell a good line from a dud at this stage). I have a multi-clip board installed on my computers so i can copy up to 20 lines from satlover or any other source. Then go back to your usb, double click on "server", you may have to double click again and you will see the specimen line you downloaded earlier, highlight it and paste in the line from your clipboard. (repeat if you have a multi clipboard). Then off to your spiderbox, insert the usb, Fn2 on the remote and save the line - the same procedure as updating the software. Easy isn't it!

ta nev, ok some good news found cfg file managed to get it onto computer and added a line last one on list kindly supplied by graham1000 on free Cccam list, got it onto usb stick, into spider but the letters numbers are not the same so I'm wondering if the cfg file has incorrect info and needs clearing before I add new info? this is by far further than I've got re computer stuff before so I'm well pleased to get so near just need to get a bit further.

there are lots of lines to try but they must match what you see, an if you do manually watch out for the capital letters.
i just entered one manually bingo, but sometimes takes a few different lines.
also best to try around 4/5pm every day when new lines come out.

I can only guess at the solution to your problem. Following my advice in the previous post, the previous line on the usb stick should be overwritten by the new line you are trying to add. Having got it apparently on the stick you must then save. Your computer should ask you if you want to save - you answer "yes". The old line will be gone and the new line will be there instead (and hopefully uncorrupted! But congrats on having got this far. The satellite hobby is as much about computer skills as anything else.

I seem to get two lines on the stick one with the new line and one with the old details on the file, so it seems it's adding another line rather than overwriting, tried a few free lines but not got any to work yet, but will keep trying, very grateful for all the guidance given
