As part of the analogue switch-over to digital, Portugal has launched a small bouquet for satellite DTH reception.
The new bouquet of just four DTT channels is broadcast on Hispasat at 30 degrees West. Viewers need to buy a special ‘DTH kit’ at a subsidised price of €40.
With the dedicated satellite receiver reception of all four national digital terrestrial channels – the two national public channels RTP1, RTP2, and two private broadcasters, SIC and TVI – is possible.
Buyers of the subsidised receiver kit need to prove they are living in an area which is not covered by DVB-T terrestrial transmitters.
The terrestrial channels are broadcast unencrypted on the terrestrial network.
