The leading Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV will have a new head from this month.
In a detailed statement, the company says that Pavel Basov is vacating the position of CEO, with his position being taken by Alexander Makarov, currently the managing director.
Basov started at Tricolor TV last April as the commercial and strategic business development director and was subsequently promoted to his current position in September.
He initiated what was termed a “5D Strategy” designed to – amongst other things – further increase its subscriber base, ARPU and improve customer service.
Tricolor TV gained 2.1 million subscribers in 2011, or 31% more than a year earlier, while the number of users of additional services rose by 56% during the year.
As of the end of 2011 the platform had over 9.5 million subscribers, of which some 7.5 million were paying.
Basov’s departure is due to a change in management strategy on the initiative of the company’s owners.
