Pay-TV channel Canal+ has reorganised its TV pole and shared it into a department dedicated to pay-TV and another to free to air (FTA) channels.
Canal+ now wants to take the best from recent DTT channels Direct 8 and Direct Star acquisition and positions for development.
The Group has then appointed Canal+’s entertainment TV shows director Ara Aprikian, 46, to handle FTA TV activities. The man, who joined Canal+ in 2005 after working at TF1, knows both the group’s audience targets and the secrets of FTA television.
FTA TV activities includes Canal+ unencrypted slots, news channel I>Télé and the recently acquired channels Direct 8 and Direct Star. The full takeover of both channels is still subject to the approval of French authorities.
Canal+ Group’s Deputy General Director Rodolphe Belmer also appointed former BETC Euro RSCG publicist Raphaël de Andreis, 42, to take up the Pay-TV TV pole, that comprises premium and theme channels.
