Would it be easier for me to go for Vu duo as a first Linux progressing from spider, as a lot of software is loaded with usb same as spider. Thanks...
The Dreambox are a lot more geared towards doing everything via your home network where as the VU+ Duo or Xtrend only need Network capability to load a channel list and cams the images are loaded as normal via USB and take no time at all.

Seeing as its your first venture into the Linux market i would advise against a clone Duo at the moment purely because if you have a bad flash on a clone then you need to repair using a network and Null modem cable.

if you have a bad flash on an original you can reflash again using the USB drive. Plus the added fact you will have a UK warranty as well.

Good Luck, and dont worry all the help you need is on this board.

Could you also connect both tuners to a twin lnb on motorised dish, but have one connected to sky dish via a diseqc switch as well?
that way you could flick between twin tuner on motorised dish or one on motor and one on sky?

Do you know if it can also be done as above? Would be handy to have the option of sky or motorised on second tuner.

Yes will work no problem i have exactly the same setup on my test rig in a spare room.

Tuner A: 1st cable of motorised dish and settings set to simple, Usals etc...

Tuner B: 2nd cable of motorised and 1 feed from Sky mini dish into a 2 way diseqc switch with settings Advanced Diseqc 1.0 and 28.2° east set to priority AA with all other sats set to priority AB

Works perfect and don't let anyone tell you any different

              Regards

Cool, new i could rely on you.
now have to decide between original, which i've found for £350 all set up with image, channel lists, cccam and 500gb hdd.
                or clone for £190.
                decisions, decisions.

Do you not have an old Sky + or Sky HD box hanging around at home if so then just take it apart and use the hard drive out of that. and by the way you can still use a Sky HD box without the hard drive the only thing is you dont have recording facility and lose the EPG, you only get a few hours of EPG instead of the full 7 days.

Just a thought i have done this many a time its cheaper to by a 500gb Sky HD box on ebay than what it is to actually buy a 500gb hard drive on its own especially with prices as they are at the moment.

Have an old sky+ box. 80 gb won't quite cut it though. Lol
just going to keep my eyes on ebay for a couple days. Failing that it's china or aspley satellite for a clone.

do you have break ups when you do that - watching on your pc both free and pay tv
when I watch on my pc using vlc I get lot of breakups if I use emus

No breakups at all. Both watching HD channel is no problem.
