BBC wraps up Swedish news deal

BBC World News has inked a deal to broadcast a selection of programmes on the new TV4 News channel when it launches on 24 January. TV4 News viewers will be able to watch BBC international news programming such as flagship current affairs programme HARDtalk and ongoing coverage of key global issues such as the U.S. elections, the Arab Uprising and the challenges facing the global economy. Explained Colin Lawrence, Commercial Director, BBC World News: “BBC World News has unique expertise in high quality, international journalism which will serve as a perfect compliment to the TV4 News offering. This agreement mirrors successful arrangements we have with an increasing number of broadcasters around the world and will offer viewers in Sweden the impartial global perspective they crave and the opportunity to engage with BBC World News content via a new platform.” “BBC World News is one of the world's foremost players in the international news and journalism field. Through this agreement, our new 24/7 news channel TV4 News will be strengthened with both news and current affairs programs in a global perspective. Together with our national news coverage and our 25 local news stations, we can now offer Swedish TV viewers a complete news service 24 hours a day” added Göran Ellung, CEO of Nyhetsbolaget Sverige, the producer of TV4 News.
