    Re: March of the Clones!

If anyone was going to buy a cheap VU+ clone, they might consider buying an original from Germany. They are original and cheaper. The good sterling rate against euro is another boost and an original VU+ duo is costing about £233 with free delivery.

Steer well clear of vu+ clones. The version 2 seem to be having a lot of psu problems and is just not worth it now.
Especially with the imminent release of the solo and duo2.
I'd say the uno is a good buy now with the soon to be released twin tuner module it can be made into a higher spec, better looking duo.

i have 1 original dm800se and 1 clone.that's no difference between them regarding tv channels, regarding media player it's a bit of difference.my opinion is to buy original(for warranty),if you dont have enough money search second hand or cheaper rec.(amiko alien, gigablue, alma.etc)

you can buy rubbish if you don't know what you are doing & there are lots of things that any clone manufacturer can cheapen at any stage that can go wrong or give a poorer performance,

Openbox and skybox are good for a starter or a newbie. Dont waste your money on clones. You never know when they gonna pack up and there is no guarantee. You can't complaint and you dont get refunds or replacements in many cases.

as said somewhere before: I never risked to buy clones of anything ; lots of friends did, only few were happy for a longer period, a lot of them returned the stuff (within warranty period) to mostly China, afterwards most of them did never get any reply or replacement. If you buy a clone, try to buy it from someone you know and can trust.
Further, everyone's free do do what they want ; I suggest some feedback would be welcome of 'clone-users'.

                Re: March of the Clones!

on the clone I had two problems but were solved, the tuner soldering tin were not well done, i got often tune failed and another error,i don't know what,so after two months i had to go to an electrician to stick back and a swollen capacitor had to be changed.SO FORGET ABOUT WARRANTY but if you have a good electrician and a bit of luck go ahead.Images for clones is not very stable but everyday you'll see another image, clones have good support. You will have to try several images and see for yourself what image is stable, what do u like.....Original rec. is very stable,is like diesel engine,is going and going,no crashes,no green screen,no freezing
So if u want a toy,if you want to pay half of the original price go to clone,if not buy original.I have 1 800se orig. and 1 sunray triple tuner clone,I am satisfied with both rec.

                  Re: March of the Clones!

I am on my second vu+ duo clone. First one got sent back to uk supplier as there psu didn't have enough juice to move my dish.
The replacement, whilst it is better than the 1st, still has problems driving the motor.
I have minimised this by setting hdd to go to standby after 30 seconds of inactivity and by putting epg, picons, etc on usb flashdrive rather than hdd.
This means that with the hdd not running as much there is more power to drive the motor.
I still have to nudge the dish in satfinder quite often, but no longer need to reboot the receiver when the motor won't move the dish.

                    Re: March of the Clones!

They might need to supply the clones with an external power supply for driving the motor. Similar problem exists in openbox and skybox cloes and some of the originals too. Everytime tried to move the motor the box restarted. The problem was solved by an external supply to the motor.

I'm hanging on for the duo2 and the twin tuner module to be released before deciding my next move.
Whatever it is I think I'll be sticking to original this time.
Clones are great if you're saving a fortune like with dreambox. But savings on vu+ just aren't big enough anymore.

Wow, alot of people on here have a problem with clones, yes the Vu Duo clones atm have problems. But take dreambox clones as an example, which are just as good as the originals, and in some cases better. Also, support of dreambox clones is widely available, and has a huge community.

I have no regrets buying clones, as long as its not the first few batches till the cloners iron out all the kinks.

I think the biggest problem is that the saving with the vu+ clones no longer warrants the risk. If the originals were still going for around £340 as they were when I bought my clone, yes it's worth the risk.
But you can get originals for £240 from germany now, only saving you about £60-£70.
There is also a clone of a clone out now.
The Ferrari team cloned it initially, which was then cloned by another chinese factory.
